Dave Seaman's Radio Therapy Broadcast - June 2020

The French-Brazilian DJ, Music Producer, and Pianist Ella Romand was brought up in a nurturing musical environment in Brazil, where she listened to various styles, from Bossa Nova to Classical Music. Thanks to a natural ear, she began playing the piano at an early age, picking up songs from the radio before taking piano lessons. Ella's love affair with Electronic Music began in the late ‘90s, early 2000s, when she was introduced to the progressive sounds of electronic music, listening to DJs such as Sasha and John Digweed. She then started exploring music production in 2005, and later one learned how to DJ later that year.
In 2006, she moved to the United States to get a degree in Music Technology while her passion for electronic music increased. As a result, her first single "Sintaque" was released on Beatport in 2009. Originally a project for Music school, the track got the attention of the label “A Must Have” with its minimalist yet melodic sounds, using sandpaper to replace snare samples and recording other objects in search of original sounds. She has also released independently a chill-out album called Awakening under the name E-romand, with some of the tracks being remixed and released on various music platforms. Ella is also currently part of a live electronic group called Dsided, playing live keys and releasing numerous tracks. As a DJ, Ella has shared the decks with the likes of Bob Moses, YokoO, Serge Devant, Lee Burridge, Bedouin, Eli & Fur, Behrouz, Matthew Dekay and Tube & Berger to name a few.

Influenced by the sounds of Electronic Music and her background on classical piano, she plays Deep and Melodic House with a harmonious taste. Abroad, she has performed in Colombia, Mozambique, Jamaica, France and Brazil; while in the US she has performed at major festivals such as III Points and Ultra, as well as Soho Hotel (NYC), W Hotel (Atlanta), Sandwich Bar (Orlando), Serafina Hotel (Puerto Rico). In Miami, Ella has played and holds residencies at underground parties and top venues such as TreeHouse, Electric Pickle, Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Delano Hotel, Faena, No. 3 Social, Floyd, 1800 Lucky, Basement, and many others.
