3.32.39 is the 4th track in preview of Plume, my album on vinyl, that will be released October 16th.
The title is the exact hour in which, on April 6th 2009, an earthquake occured in L'Aquila, destroying  part of the city and changing its very soul forever.
The track is meant to be an homage to the victims memory and, at the same time, a hymn to life for whom has survived and found the strength to react.

'Alma, I want to be the soil that nourishes your roots and gives shelter to your seed. I want to be the water that quenches your thirst for growth, life and joy. I want to direct you to the sun because she can show you where there is light and what it is worth striving for. 
I want to give you all my love that lives within me and support the growth of your seed with all my heart. I want to see you rise above the ground and make your first and following steps into this world. I want to see you bloom and let the wind carry away your blossoms into the world until you become the wind and the wind becomes you. 
So the world may get a glimpse of your heart's beauty and may turn into a slightly better place.'

Recorded from October 2018 until March 2019. 
All the music/recording, mixing, painting, photography, video editing is done by me, Alexander Mercks.

The initial sound of the Koshi is dedicated to the moments in which we played it for Alma when she not yet had a name and was still in the womb of my beloved girlfriend Jessica.

The sound of Alma's heart beat was recorded just a few weeks prior to birth.

The sounds of her voice were yet feeble but one of her first sounds she made, realising for the first time that she has a voice which she can control.

The piano piece came to my mind during pregnancy of Jessica and I went to an acquaintance in Freiburg who allowed me to play on his piano and record. Also the melody kind of reminds me of a melody of Nils Frahm, one of my greatest inspirations. I hope I didn't copy him. If so - it was not at all intended but just the inspiration ;)

The Glockenspiel is my mom's, who is a music teacher for children and put the seed of music into my life.

I sat down at night improvising a small piece with the idea of creating something spontaneous. I recorded the chords within 1 hour and added strings and textures the next day. Piano Day of 2019 inspired me to use the piano which is the perfect instrument to catch ideas like this. Let me know what you think!
