This week on Topshelf we are delighted to have with us Mexican Italo DJ/Producer Alex Aguayo.

A master of experimentation, Alex Aguayo (also Mahkina) has been exploring the electronic genres through his production since his housey 2016 debut ‘Stereo’ and has continued to develop his kraft exponentially, adding rich layers to his work and evolving his sound through aesthetic , moving gradually from classic house to italo house, marked by his 2019 release ‘Circuit’ which also saw remixes from Did Virgo, Thomas Banks and White Magik. 

Alex has since continued to add to his extremely impressive body of work with huge Italo / Dark Disco tracks like ‘Not Going Out’, ‘Mothership’ & ‘Robots Experience’ with Velax, ‘Left Without a Word’, ‘Light Out’, ‘Never Coming Back’, Squares & Waves’, ‘Stuck In A Timeline’, Intuitive Confusion’, ‘Altered Speech’ & ‘Away’ to name a mere few as well as recently delving even further deeper into the previously mentioned genres with a multitude of works with dark disco darling Silicodisco, including their brilliant new EP ‘Ultraviolet’ which perfectly incapsulates the depth we’re referring. 
With an already release heavy 2024, we can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for us this year but for now here’s Topshelf 0105 w/ Alex Aguayo, enjoy.

On Saturday Hamo (@altum_music) and I had the absolute pleasure of warming up the main room at the Abercrombie for @thefanclubcollective hosting the Motorik crew. We started off deep and groovy and went from there as the room filled up.

Also has releases on immensely respected labels like Massive Harmony, and Qilla Records, which have garnered support from industry giants like John Digweed, Solomun, James Harcourt, AFFKT, Nicolas Masseyeff, John Monkman, Super Flu, Carl Craig, Township Rebellion, Inigo Vontier, BOg, Souveq, Mr. Morek, Invoker, Colyn, Phunkadelica, Marvin & Guy, Who Made Who and Mira. 

His DJ sets reflect his fluid versatility, leading him to share bill space with an  illustrious list of industry heavyweights, like Above & Beyond, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Yotto, Jerome Isma-Ae, Coyu, Fedele, and Ben Bohmer.
