People often use the term ‘family’ these days, especially record labels; it’s a go to word that’s frequently over-used. But when it comes to Julian Wassermann & Raphael Mader it is highly appropriate as both are an important part of the Renaissance label roster with multiple releases to their names, ably demonstrating the future of house is in safe hands.

So, Renaissance were delighted when they got a call saying, “Guys, we’re teaming-up to start a new project devoted to electronica. Are you interested?” Their response was immediate to say the least, buoyed by the prospect of the label-family circle pulling tighter still... MODEM was born!

However, not satisfied with the strength of their burgeoning status, Julian and Raph decided to go a step further and invited heavyweight French production duo Betical to collaborate on what was to become ‘Marginal’, the first single taken from their forthcoming album, ‘Fahrenheit 52’.

'Marginal' was one of the first ideas we had,” explains Julian, “it’s a record full of wistful emotion and melancholy with that deep, dream-like quality that works so well with electronica.”

“We’ve both admired Betical for a long time,” Raph continues, “when they agreed to the collaboration we began by sending various sketches back and forth and they actually picked out ‘Marginal’”.

Betical then wasted no time in confirming their choice, “We immediately loved the track’s atmosphere and chord progression. We worked on a drum, added some melodies and a vocal and then kicked it back and forth until we all agreed it was over the finish line. We really enjoyed working with the guys and are proud of the final result!”

We are super stoked that Lopezhouse accepted an invitation to make our next guest mix. This Spanish DJ/Producer duo has been on fire lately! 

Since their debut album for Dirtybird Records in 2015, their trajectory has been steadily upward. Since then, they have put out acclaimed releases on labels such as Kittball, Plattenbank, Sincopat, and Suara, and Bedrock Records, with support from the likes of Guy Mantzur, Solomun, and John Digweed.

Lopezhouse has a unique, groovy style, ranging from Melodic Techno and Progressive House to Indie Dance. Heading into 2022, they are a duo to watch, both from the production side, as well as the DJ/Live act perspective.

"I spent the whole of the lockdowns alone which, while being pretty grim at times, also gave me the chance to reconnect with music beyond it being my job.
I’d lost sight of why I started doing things in the first place so this time away let me rediscover the joy I have in a much broader palette of music than what I’d become known for.
I ended up starting a music page on FB which connected me to loads of amazing people with similarly broad tastes and that music group ended up turning into a weekly party in Newcastle which has really made me fall in love with sharing music to dance floors again.
I’ve learned a bunch of lessons though, and one of them is to never do anything just for the PR any more, as it’s transparent if you’re not completely invested: That means that I now find myself either turning down podcast opportunities, or coming back with ridiculously long and indulgent mixes."

So basically Hernan played it and a 18.000 crowd went off :D

Born in Colombia and now residing in Israel, Golan Zocher is the founder of the renowned Bloom Records label and is also constantly focused on creating the finest electronic music for a multitude of other outlets, most recently appearing on Proton, Magnitude, Mango Alley, Beatfreak, Movement, MNL and more. 

Built on an instantly addictive hip-swinging percussive groove, Wonder Way unfolds magically in a supremely effective arrangement of subtle melodic layering and cleverly engaging motifs. Experimental Saint Petersburg-based sonic shapeshifter Bop is back on Hospital Records with his brand new five-track ‘Perehod’ EP that ventures afar from his usual drum & bass status as he spans through 2-step, breakbeat and ambient: all with his spellbinding signature production finesse which has already received the seal of approval from the likes of Ejeca, London Elektricity, Alec Falconer, Because Of Art and Oneman.

Opening piece ‘NDE’ casts Bop’s archetypal and skittery off-beat rhythms across a palate of soothing synth pads, adventurous arpeggios and dusty hoover bass drones. Subtly funky throughout, the tinges of garage vocal stabs shimmer across this imaginative stepper.

‘Take Your Time’ offers up thought provoking chord progressions amongst Bop’s contemplative sound . A super low-slung drum pattern makes way for the crisp, immersive vocal tones that flutter elegantly above.

No stranger to pioneering successful moves outside the realms of 174BPM, Bop secured the number 1 spot on the Beatport Garage chart alongside Subwave with ‘Haze’.
