Spring Cleaning (Do Not Disturb Remix)

Elina seems drawn to create these odes to geographic locations she has experienced or imagines she has experienced. This time it is the Western part of the American continent which continues to entice travellers with endless ocean from Alaska to the Baja. This tune grew from an acoustic guitar-based folk song to a funky ballad as I tinkered with rhythms and instrumentation. When it was 'done' I still felt it needed something else to tie it all together, to match the wistful but incisive lyrical story  -  jazz saxophone. Now, I can't claim this as an original idea because the pop pantheon is full of great examples like James Taylor, Billy Joel, Sting, Paul Simon, The Stones and even the Beatles who knew they needed the likes of Michael Brecker, Phil Woods, Branford Marsalis, Sonny Rollins and Ronnie Scott (respectively) to complete and enhance their recordings! Luckily, we didn't have to look far with my brother and Elina's uncle, Mike Filice, ready to occupy the tenor sax chair on her original song. He did this in our tiny cottage in the woods - first take - and it perfectly infused that final ingredient which now seems completely integral to the feeling Elina and I were going for! Again, thanks to Ben Robertaccio who lent his ears to make the sounds pretty and natural.
