“Why do they call a harmonica a harp?” The Bearded Man mused. Although he’d long been a fan of the instrument, he just didn’t see the connection. Little did he realize, as he gazed out onto the crystal waters of Mykonos (you know, *before* it was overrun by tourists), that the answer was right in front of him. His first thought was that it had something to do with angels. If that were true, it would mean that the angels were mighty lonely on their clouds, as he’d never heard anything but somber, thought-provoking melodies from the device. “Nah, that can’t be right,” he said, "because if there *was* a heaven, it would be a non-stop party jam 24/7 right? — no time for contemplation or melancholy." Just then, an island breeze picked up, and he began to hear haunting, inhuman tones coming from the distance. On the coast, he could see what appeared to be a harp alright, but no one was playing it — just the wind. He shouted up to Aeolus, the wind god, asking “what the hell is that thing?” Aeolus responded: “It’s my wind harp, don’t you like it?” The Bearded Man said: “It’s alright — kinda weird though right?” Aeolus: “You’re right, I was pretty hungover when I created it. Sorry about that.” The Bearded Man: “It’s cool. So that’s why they call a harmonica a harp?” Aeolus: “Yup.” The Bearded Man: “Makes sense to me, I guess.” He was lying. It didn’t make any sense at all. But hey, that’s just the way the world works sometimes — haunting, mysterious, beautiful, and just plain weird.

Lorenzo De Blanck makes his debut on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records this month with his debut ‘White Havana’ EP. Lorenzo is no newcomer to the scene with past successes on labels including NONSTOP, Moon Harbour, Flashmob Records, Deeperfect and previous DJ support from A-Lister’s, Joseph Capriati, Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Jones, Matthias Tanzmann, Kölsch and many more! Lead track, ‘White Havana’ kicks things off, a crisp and energetic cut featuring swinging claps, suspenseful synths and a playful rise and fall bassline. ‘Password Incorrect’ brings laid back House drums with crisply mixed percussion, looped vocals and a pulsating low-end which underpins a series of hypnotic synth hooks that grow with subtle melodic hints. Rounding things off is ‘Fun’, another smooth groover with percolating rhythms, an infectious bassline, robust snares and chopped vox samples, forming a production destined to inject life into any situation.

Mason delivers ‘Loosen Up’ on Toolroom this July as he reveals the first single from this forthcoming album, backed by a remix from Illyus & Barrientos.
Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Mason’s career has seen the Dutch native evolve his unique sound over twenty years, releasing material via a host of leading imprints including Island Records, Defected, Kittball, Skint and Sweat It Out, whilst playing playing sets in over fifty countries across the globe including at ADE, Tomorrowland and Space, Ibiza. Following the release of ‘The Get Down’ alongside ATFC on Toolroom’s recent ‘T2’ collaboration compilation, September welcomes fresh material on the label as he delivers the first single from his new album, ‘Frisky Biscuits'. The album follows two previous Mason long players and will feature a host of talented features and guests.
The first single ‘Loosen Up' showcases Mason’s irreverent, playful side and combines disco influenced vibes with subtle keys, infectious vocal hooks and refined percussion to create a smile inducing, sun-soaked production ready to take on the summer, whilst Illyus & Barrientos’ remix highlights the original’s vocal hooks with a blend of warped synths and a slick, driving bassline to shape up another impressive release on Toolroom.
