Heavy afro-tinged sounds this week from Leeds-based leftfield party crew Cave Paintings. Taking us on a journey through psychedelic tribal disco that doesn't sound out of place in a steamy rain forest or on desert plains, their unique style has led them to curate the Dogon Village area at Festival No.6; where the thick tangled woods and trippy jungle sounds add to the ethereal atmosphere they create. Clandestino 046 - Cave Paintings

We all know what cave paintings are, though few of us are likely to ever need them when we're asking for directions to the nearest cash machine or need the number of a speedy takeaway service. Perhaps for most of us the idea of a cave painting has become a little outdated along with fax machines and Lady Gaga. However, there are a group of people determined to make the good name of Cave Paintings rise to the forefront of our minds once more by using it as the name for their small group of DJs, producers and promoters. We too are keen to back the return of this ancient art and therefore asked them to provide us with this 'Gathered Neatly On A Thin Raft' mix. For years he has been regarded as one of the leading figures in Electronic music and continues to push the boundaries between the weird, wonderful, obscure and danceable, alongside the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Trevor Jackson and more. He slots firmly into chic French fashion culture and gritty, underground musical eclecticism at the same time. Over the past couple of years his label has released music from far and wide: pop obscurities from Israel, punk funk from Lithuania and experimental electronics from the likes of Mutado Pintado, Golden Bug and Margot. In 2011 Brian d'Souza released his first EP on Glasgow based record label Huntleys & Palmers, this was to be the debut of Auntie Flo. Some five years later his musical progression has evolved substantially. Last year saw him release the critically acclaimed 'Theory Of Flo' accompanied by a brand new live show. His sounds sees him dabble between the crossovers of world music, dance and balearic obscurity. He captures a sun kissed sound which you would certainly not associate with the bleak and rainy forecast which so often swamps Glasgow. The world is getting smaller: music is changing. Highlife explores emergent music from around the globe focusing on small localised musical ghettos, cross-cultural collaborations and the so-called World Music 2.0.

Highlife is mixed by  Auntie Flo and features artists who have played Highlife since it launched in May 2010. @andrew-weatherall (@rotters_golf_club) - Andrew Weatherall’s extraordinary twenty-five year career in music has been characterised by a series of unique partnerships, with twenty albums, thirty or so EPs and singles plus more than two hundred and fifty remixes under his belt. Bastion of the underground, Andrew has set up record labels, remixed in collaboration with artists including Paul Oakenfold on Happy Monday's Hallelujah and has brought a distinctive flavour to hundreds of other artists. Remixes led to a smattering of production duties.  Andrew only rarely wears the producer hat but on each occasion, from Primal Scream’s 1991 Screamadelica to 2009’s Tarot Sport by Fuck Buttons, the results are outstanding.  This year he released one album as The Woodleigh Research Facility (with Nina Walsh) and one under his own name, titled 'Convenanza' after the festival he curates each September in Carcassonne.  A remix album of the tracks from Convenanza will follow in October.
