Heavy afro-tinged sounds this week from Leeds-based leftfield party crew Cave Paintings. Taking us on a journey through psychedelic tribal disco that doesn't sound out of place in a steamy rain forest or on desert plains, their unique style has led them to curate the Dogon Village area at Festival No.6; where the thick tangled woods and trippy jungle sounds add to the ethereal atmosphere they create. Feel Fly, the alias of Perugia-based producer Daniele Tomassini, a visionary force in Italy’s electronic music scene and co-founder of Afro Templum, debuts on Taste Rec. with his new EP.

Titled "Festina Lente", an old Latin saying that means "make haste slowly", this deep work invites listeners to surrender to dance, movement, and the flow of energy in a timeless space, untouched by the idea of an ending. It's sincere and atmospheric, moving through the artist’s musical roots: progressive sounds, cosmic moods and a touch of lightness drawn from Italian dance culture.
The release blends carefully sacred, dreamy visions with raw rhythmic sequences and warm synthesized basslines: magical.

Blaschko Alley open their account with a patient, low-slung statement. “I Died In Vegas” moves like a train, drum machines locked, bassline glued, synthwork smearing the edges. “Near Death Experience” turns the screw with a dub-heavy guitars and a half-time groove that feels built for red lights and smoke.

“Falls” is the EP’s release valve, a slow, woozy sway with a driving energy and steadily rising arpeggio. “Fallen Angels” closes the circle, stitching post-punk texture to indie-dance momentum for a track that never hurries yet never lets go.

We all know what cave paintings are, though few of us are likely to ever need them when we're asking for directions to the nearest cash machine or need the number of a speedy takeaway service. Perhaps for most of us the idea of a cave painting has become a little outdated along with fax machines and Lady Gaga. However, there are a group of people determined to make the good name of Cave Paintings rise to the forefront of our minds once more by using it as the name for their small group of DJs, producers and promoters. We too are keen to back the return of this ancient art and therefore asked them to provide us with this 'Gathered Neatly On A Thin Raft' mix.
