Captain Capa are still living in Bad Frankenhausen, where they grew up sheltered, but anything but plain. But the province of Thuringia can't provide endless input for two creative boys in their mid-twenties, which is why Hannes Naumann and Maik Biermann tend to break out as much as possible to catch up on big city lights.
Since 2011 the duo is almost constantly on tour - with rapidly increasing success - even internationally. After the release of the album 'Saved My Life' (Audiolith Records, 2011) Hannes and Maik got shaken up pretty hard: more than 200 live shows, the New Music Award, tv-performances, the Vans Warped Tour through the United States and over 40 festival-shows from Groningen (Eurosonic) to Budapest (Sziget) in 2013.
The new album 'Foxes' comes out October 25th.

Audiolith macht das musikalische Vermächtnis einer der wichtigsten deutschen Bands der Neuzeit endlich einer großen Öffentlichkeit zugänglich: „The Lost Tapes“ von Egotronic.

Meine sehr geehrten Damen und Herren, wie oft haben Sie sich im Februar 2013 gefragt: Was macht eigentlich Torsun Burkhardt gerade? Wir haben uns das jeden Tag gefragt, denn was Torsun Burkhardt zu diesem Zeitpunkt machte, war uns unbekannt.

Einer der wichtigsten Protagonisten des Audiolith Universums schien untergetaucht. Nach fünf Jahren erste Reihe, unzähligen Hits, diversen Alben, einem Buch und sieben Skandalen, war er auf einmal verschwunden. Das letzte Lebenszeichen: ein Hetzvideo gegen eine Band aus Italien.Danach war er weg. Verschwunden. Handy aus - nicht mal SMS ging. Wurde er etwa von den Knechten aus den Bergen entführt? Oder macht er eine Weltreise? Oder lebt er in einem Wohnwagen an der Ostsee?

Für Sie mögen diese Fragen uninteressant sein. Für uns sind sie sie schon wichtig. Schließlich ist er unsere beste Geldkuh und wenn die auf einmal weg ist, ist auch das wirtschaftliche Überleben unserer Firma in Gefahr. Wer zahlt dann unsere Löhne? Sie sicher nicht. Egal, auf jeden Fall ist uns beim Surfen im Internet aufgefallen, dass es paar alte Egotronic Songs gibt aus der Zeit um ca. 2001… Diese wurden nie richtig veröffentlicht, sind aber wichtige Meilensteine des frühen Elektropunks und stellen damit ein wichtiges kulturelles Erbe dar.

Dieses wollte wir der Nachwelt unbedingt erhalten - aus Liebe zur Musik. Aus diesem Grund sind wir am 25.05.2013 am hellichten Tage in den Wohnwagen von Torsun Burkhardt eingebrochen und haben uns das alte Master Tape ausgeliehen, um es gegen seinen Willen zu Geld zu machen. Bitte verraten sie das nicht der Polizei und auch nicht Torsun. Wir wollen nicht, dass er uns schlägt.

Diese Schätzchen haben wir bei unserer Kommando-Aktion geborgen:

1. Möllewahn - Dieser Song brachte Egotronic damals entgültig den Ruf, das „Flagschiff der
Antideutschen“ zu sein. Ein tanzbares Stück gegen Antisemitismus und Antizionismus. Durfte
2003 auf keiner guten Demo fehlen.
2. Ich weisz Bescheid - Das für manche immer noch beste Egotronic Stück aller Zeiten: eine
Bekenntnis zur In & Out Rubrik der Bild Zeitung und eine Hymne auf Katja Kessler. Besonders
Auffällig: Der Sprechgesang von Egotronic Gründungsmitglied Hörm!
3. Ein Song, der „Hamburg“ heißt und den wir selber nicht kennen, der aber auch auf der
Kassette war.
4. Nationale Psychose - „Wissen Sie, warum ich weiß, dass Ich Recht habe?“ Der
antinationale Klassiker schlechthin. Wird wirklich Zeit, dass wir den rausbringen. Leider ist der
Song heute wahrscheinlich noch aktueller als zu seiner Entstehung vor 10 Jahren.
5. Eine kleine Liebesgeschichte (ohne happy end) - Der kleine Torsun auf Trip. :-)
6. Terrorismo - zu diesem Song wurde der erste Videoclip in der Geschichte der Menschheit
gedreht. Findet man immer noch auf Youtube!

„Berlin Fainting" is the third and last installment of singles taken from Captain Capas album „Saved My Life", for which they got praised and blessed in a rain of confetti. For example at legendary Vans Warped Tour USA, which the boys toured in summer 2012. Unlike their further singles "Faraday" or "Rivals" this one's neither about shredded guitar-riffs nor your emo-make-up-lesson, it's all about synthie-hooks, disco-chords and shedding tears in the big city lights. Call it club-ballad or electropop-sadness if you have to write it down, but it is what it is - a song to break your heart on the dancefloor and to shake up your feet at home in front of your speakers.

If you took your time for an extensive, fullfilled childhood, you're allowed to grow up late in your twenties. Just like Captain Capa, undergoing their musical coming-of-age right now with their new record 'Foxes'.
What used to be an anchor, slowly becomes an albatross around the neck - a world you don't fit in the more you get away from it. And while old friends are busy building houses, getting kids and making money, you keep losing yourself in a back and forth of touring and slacking.
Captain Capa are probably the hardest touring band in Audiolith - and certainly the most-rousing on. The new album 'Foxes' comes out October 25th, the correspondent single reaches your melancholic choreomania since today.
'Foxes' is the foundation Captain Capa planted under their cloud-castle.

A rusty octav-bass, a twisted collegerock-six-string and the oh-so-charming emotional voice of goldenthroat Ashi, chirping lines of broken love and the de-romantization of the starry sky. "And Faraday was right, when he said you need a constant" - hidden messages behind the curtain, and if you stumble upon the nerd-reference to that Island-TV-show: congratulations, you won.

The end of 2008 saw Grieves enlisting the help of friend and collaborator Budo to co-produce Together/Apart bringing his signature swiss-army knife, multi-instrumental backdrop to Grieves' hauntingly poignant narrative. The album began taking shape in New York as the two built off the success 88 Keys and Counting had generated and paired it with the intensity they developed from  their live performances.  The recording process began to shadow the theme of the album as it saw tracks recorded in Colorado and Washington in addition to New York, infusing it with a mixture of regional influences while still maintaining a cohesive sound.  As the album neared completion the title took on a double meaning for Grieves as he explored new subject matter in the absence of trust, refuge in addiction, acceptance and honesty in self-reflection, and trying to find his place in the world without forgetting his roots.  

Together/Apart concludes three years of self-discovery that has ultimately lead to Grieves' most emotionally charged and daring album to date.
