Together.    A remarkable gathering of more than twenty of my favorite SoundCloud musicians.  Guitars, keyboards, basses, tenor sax, clarinet and vocals. Together's musicians are serious creative instrumentalists and are inspirations to so many.  Many are recording artists.  The finest players I know here.   So many are simply remarkable.
   
Together represents what SoundCloud is about, and how effectively musicians can work across the world.   Musicians who have never ever even spoken with each other, but recognize each other by their sounds and the notes, rhythms and phrases they play.  Pretty damn cool.

12 countries are represented here  -- Canada, Dubai, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and the US.   

There are two sections to the piece - a blues piece and a modal fusion section, with soloists across each part, showcasing their distinctive voices.  Vocalatti's beautiful singing is woven throughout the piece - her words and voice really pull us together.  The wonderful keyboard head during the opening and closing was composed and performed by Calaminus, who also has added the great organ comping you hear throughout.   The first and last soloists are brilliant musicians and soloists, as are so many throughout.    

It's been such a pleasure to pull this together over the past 3 weeks.  So sit back and enjoy a true SoundCloud experience.

What's The Fuss - 2016 Debut-Paploviante & NayJ.

About MATRIX MAN~
This track represents an exploration of an idea that for many years was back-burner/kind-of experimental material, but finally I had the desire to finish it.
Overall… Matrix Man has two main sections. The first section actually has a couple parts within it, one being the initial concept from which the rest of the tune was written around. 
This initial concept involves ascending and descending suspension chords, along with a syncopated “melody” weaving throughout, with the added element of rhythmic tension created by repeated cycles of three measures in 7/8, and a fourth measure in 5/8.  The chordal basis of this crafty part just described becomes quite evident as this track progresses in about a minute. 
But for the intro, I decided to solo only the melody without the background of suspension chords from which it was extrapolated from.  Eventually… the first section morphs into the remaining section which maintains a steady 7/8 time signature.  Here an infectious groove develops as the bass and drums drive the foundation punctuated by guitar and piano solos.
I originally called this tune “Suspended Matrix”, which makes sense due to it’s quirky suspended chord form from which the whole tune was derived from. But as I worked on it, a light went on in my head telling me to retitle it “MATRIX MAN” (after all… I was the man... the man suspended in this matrix for a month!).
I think the new title’s got more of a ring to it anyway!
I hope everyone enjoys the listening experience despite the technical nature of this composition!

MATRIX MAN (Audric Jankauskas-2016)

About a month ago I released a solo flamenco nuevo piece for acoustic guitar called The Ornament of Solitude in the style of Soleá. I felt that it could have an alternative instrumentation by adding a string section and some extra percussion here and there. This is regularly done by the flamenco guitar greats causing a more ballad kind of feel to the music. 
As I like both versions, the original pure guitar and percussion one as well as this more romantic version, I decided to share this one with you as a reprise and surprise. Some of you already had a sneak preview, but now here it is for every one to hear...

This track is a sonic interpretation of a storm as it progresses from it's beginning stages all the way to it's closure.
In my case…. observing the first snowflakes falling so gently as a
winter storm approaches, only to be followed by a powerful driving blizzard.

What She Said

This high energy track has a mix of stylistic elements of some of my favorite jazz/fusion guitarists that have influenced me over the years. (Metheny, Scofield, Henderson, Martino). I did not necessarily intend this... the track just seemed to develop this way on it's own.  
Except for my guitar, I programmed/sequenced every instrument that is heard. 
I also must give additional credit where it's due. This composition and track, as it exists now, would never have come to be if it weren't for a free-form jam session recorded in 2013 with local musician friends Mitch Shelly (on bass), Don Plowman (on drums), and myself (on guitar).  While listening back to the jam recording, one particular spot caught my ears in which I realized could easily turn out to be the heart of a new composition. Thankfully, the combination of the bass line, drum pattern, and melody that now makes up the main theme of Intrepid Spirits was captured! Of course, much more was added to this main theme to build it into the composition and track as it exists now.

This track titled “Serendipitous” features the extraordinary musical talents of violist Themis Nikoloudis.  It was a great experience collaborating with Themis from beginning to end on this tune! “Serendipitous” was something I wrote about 20 years ago… a rather simple composition with just two distinct parts.  I was never sure about ever publishing it.  But when Themis approached me suggesting to collaborate, I thought it would be nice to bring this particular tune to life with the magical sounds of Themis’s violin playing.  I hope everyone enjoys this collaboration!  Also… I highly recommend checking out Themis’s SoundCloud page to listen to his music!

AUSPICIOUS ANGULARITY (Audric Jankauskas-2016)

Featuring super-trumpeter Chuck Weirich and the Aleck Rand Group,  This original tune may sound like a waltz, but it is actually in 5/4 time.  Chuck is a trumpet melodist with a pure sound, playing accessible, beautifully shaped ideas and harmonies.   I composed it, nevertheless he makes it his own.

Off by heart....

Rainy afternoon and this track is inspired by the musical genius that is Tom Waits. This whole track comes from the first two bass notes of 'Make it rain' from the 'Real Gone' album., look it up, the rest is development from there. I love that dark mood. Once again the 335 is earning its keep as is 'blue' the jazz bass!

in the early 90's  I played with different Reggae Bands . 
At one of many shows a Lady ( which became my biggest fan ) gave me some lyrics telling me , she saw a few shows and were inspired to write down a few words - could be maybe used for a song .
She always like to stay anonimous and I promise her to do so . 
In 1994 I recorded a demo with sequenzer - but I decided to record it again and did this in 1998 .Analogue recording with Yamaha MT 8 X , I had no drumsticks so I used the Jazz Brush instead . Hope you enjoy ! Thank you for the love , support and stopping by - one love to you :)

WELCOME ALL to my SoundCloud page!

It's always a pleasure to discover through SoundCloud the wealth of wonderfully talented and creative musicians out in the world... all sharing their own distinct and artistic creations.  I'm very happy to be a part of this amazing, creative, and supportive community.

My main instrument is the guitar (mainly electric... sometimes acoustic). I also play on occasion bass and keyboards (strictly for recording on my own compositions).  Most of my music tracks on SC are created, recorded, and produced in my home studio.  Recently, I've been making good use of midi sequencing to ultimately produce tracks that I otherwise would find almost impossible to do by other means. 

Fusion (my mix of jazz, rock, funk, soundtrack, etc.) is the best way to describe most of the music that I produce these days.  I've enjoyed playing and recording many styles/genres of music in the past, and all these past musical experiences influence me today in the way I compose and play.

You will find here on my SC page samplings of new and older works of mine.  The track picture icons more or less help identify what tracks belong to other associated tracks. And I will try to present some extra information for the individual tracks for those that are interested as well.
