This is Supposed to Hurt

Mike Dean, one of the game's most prolific producers and its reigning master keyboardist, spent a weekend in the Moog Music Factory.

Surrounded by analog synthesizers and immersed in an environment of experimentation, Mike selected 6x Mother-32 synthesizers to create his sonic palette and a Voyager XL as his master controller.

I was pleased to reprise my role as creator of the music for the second season of MAMMUT, the norwegian web-based crime-tale that can be watched here: https://www.glomdalen.no/mammut2---se-alle-episodene

The music included in this track, as well as a few more minutes included only in the actual web series, was made in approx. 5-6 days. I used samples from two free libraries, as well as some stuff included with Logic Pro 9, which was the software I used. Feel free to ask questions you might have.

Now while I do promise to give you 90% of the formula to good melodies I'm not promising you will be able to create them. I can only help to an extent but I know these MIDI TOOLS benefit a lot of producers.

Dreams & Nightmares (ft. Lil Peep)

I wrote this poem shortly after my father Alan Stephens was placed in a care facility for dementia. This piece is dedicated to his memory. This piece is structured in arc form, abcba, where I decided to move between a wide array of tonal centers, evoking a sense of motion and forward movement. I decided to write for choir for several reasons; first, practically the voice is the best way to project the text, second, I wanted to utilize the human voice to create an angelic and serene atmosphere. I created the “fake latin” words because of the different vowel placements they added, as well as the sense of ambiguity they entice. This piece is my outlet of expression for this loss, and more importantly, to celebrate his life and the impact it had on my own.
