Spoonhead is a pioneer of live psychedelic techno, progressive psy and breaks in New Zealand (NZ). His goal is to take people on deep immersive journeys away from everyday life.

The Spoonhead experience sends you awash through sonically rich and musically diverse soundscapes. Each live set is unique, showcasing his 100% original music.

Having a solid grasp of not only progressive-psy, but also breaks, gitch-hop and techno -  Spoonhead flows seamlessly between acts of different genres. This has seen Spoonhead play alongside some of the heavyweights in the music scene, including Grouch, Tom Cosm, Tetrameth, Mr Bill, Sensient and Antix. Spoonhead’s moldable live set makes for loads of fun on the dancefloor and allows plenty of room for experimentation.

Spoonhead has rocked dancefloors across Australia and NZ including mainstage sets at Aum, Psyfari, and Earth Frequency. In 2021/2022 he brought in the new year at NZ's premier psychedelic event Twisted Frequency Festival to a packed crowd.

As a teenager, the young Spoonhead (his high-school nickname) toured and performed as a lead guitarist in the punk band Mob Sharkey. Shaking bars, pubs and venues across the country. Being so young often saw him refused entry by bouncers to the events he was booked to play!

It was exposure to outdoor electronic music festivals that set a new tone and direction musically. Leaving the band to study electronic music, design and software engineering; Spoonhead honed his skills to strike a balance between artistry and precision engineering. This creative combination has culminated in critically acclaimed releases across a variety of genres. You'll find Spoonhead releases on cutting-edge record labels including WEAPON, Stone Seed and Techgnosis.

Spoonhead is always continually evolving to push the boundaries, cross genres and discover new emotive spaces through music. Recently his focus is on collaborating with other musicians with this drive - because music is better when shared!

As a child Yama broke many styli playing with his parents’ turntable & records. As a teen he was the one parked up at the stereo system at parties, CD wallet in hand, ready to play the next song. But it was somewhere around 1999 in a side room at a rave he discovered his calling – house music. Yama was hooked. Since then he’s played many venues, bars, parties, and festivals about the place, and has dabbled a little in some music production. He's also dropped the occasional drum & bass and downtempo sets when the mood suits.

From the shimmering shores of New Zealand’s electronic capital, to the world-renowned dance floors of Australia’s iconic Vision Hound & Chi Wow Wah Town events, label founders Uone and Out of Sorts have joined forces to bring you their spine-tingling record label, Beat & Path.

For over a decade, we have shared our vibrations, both locally and on an international scale, releasing on some of the world’s most respected labels and captivating crowds across all four corners of the globe. Along the way, we have not just made friends, but built a family. And now we seek to pave a path for those who follow. Nurturing talent from across New Zealand and Australia, Beat & Path is harnessing the region’s musical powers to create a label of international distinction. Our drum roll is to showcase the finest talent that our two nests have to offers, whilst nurturing young blood and cross pollinating with first-rate producers from around the globe.

Beat & Path specialises in deep, organic vibrations with a signature electronic edge. From homegrown dusty desert twangs to inspiring sounds from throughout the world, the label aims to take you on it’s own unique journey through electronic soundscapes from an angle that you may have never seen. Since our inception in 2016, the label has enlisted a promising slew of up and coming artists to its roster, including the likes of Caly Jandro, Philosophia, Boy Oh Boy, Moontide, Beacon Bloom, The Oddness, Jamie Stevens, Sanoi, Timmus, whilst showcasing world class producers Thankyou City, Be Svendsen, Nicone, Oliver Koletzki, Madmotormiquel, David Keno, Timboletti, Sabo, KMLN & many more.

We have shared stories of friendship, passion, and nights that never end. Now, BEAT & PATH becomes the book from which we tell our stories.
