Wax’o Paradiso Recordings continues their exploration of antipodean downtempo sounds with WPR005 - The Perfect Harmony EP. Enlisting Guy contact and Solar Suite, who individually are known for more powerful club fodder across the progressive and trance adjacent sides of the genre spectrum, here we see them trading a few BPMs for a spacious, textural sound across four tracks recorded in 2023 in a shared studio in Naarm/Melbourne.

Will Hofbauer returns to Aus Music with four colourful tracks of house, dub and broken beats.
The London-based artist previously debuted on the label with Four! Beats! in 2024
Will Hofbauer has always made music with a playful sensibility. From deep house to techno to club, it always comes with leftfield samples and an intriguing personality. His grooves are lithe, and his production styles pops and fizzes on labels like Wisdom Teeth, Optimo Music, and his own Third Place, and his return to Aus is again filled with studio trickery and dance floor delights.
Opener 'Silica Gel' is a dubby house cut with smeared pads bringing dashes of warmth. Shakers, hooky synth wiggles, and off-grid hits pepper the groove to keep things moving while sci-fi motifs bring a futuristic twist. 'Rolling in the Ooze’ picks up the pace with well-swung drums and grittier textures while bright leads dazzle and a sombre bassline adds depth. The brilliant 'Squito' has an authentic dub touch and is marbled with watery ripples and tiny sonic droplets. It's a fluid, elastic sound full of musical curiosities. Closer 'Ghoti' is a stumbling broken beat with meticulous drums and hi-hats over a stepping bassline. Bursts of shimmering synths and tumbling melodic scales light it up with a psychedelic twist.

PREMIERE: Silent Era - Sudden Fall

Impérieux debuts on Hessle Audio with the Fena EP, an immersive collection of 4 tracks defined by his unpredictable and varied sonic palette. Drawing on a heritage that threads through Turkey, Greece and his home city of Kırcaali in Bulgaria, Alper Durmush channels a turbulent year in which six months of creative stillness ignited unexpectedly into an explosive burst of musical ideas.

"Fena is a word my Mum used to call me as a kid" recounts Durmush on the title track. "The name comes from Turkish, but with a Balkan twist, it means a mischievous rascal - wild, unpredictable, a bit too much at times". This restless energy is perfectly captured with jittering interferance and snarling sawtooth synths bursting through the mix, threatening to overwhelm the speakers and sending sound engineers running for cover. 'Sickomode' encapsulates the push-pull emotional sensibility of the EP, with confidence and meloncholy rotating, shifting, and giving way to each other.

'Saat' is an attempt to recreate a track based solely on a surreal description, relayed by a veteran of the rave scene in his home town - "This guy told me about a festival in the woods back in the early 2000s, where someone played a track with dogs barking in the break - the volume rising constantly." The initial dissonance of its detuned lead releases into a euphoric rush of melody, a combination which is becoming something of a producer trademark. The EP closes with the quiet, unwavering warmth of 'Cawuso', a nickname for a person that the artist met last year. "This very special person showered me with kindness and purity. It almost felt unreal, so I decided to dedicate this track to them."

Who says you can't mix club tools, soaring synths and disco loops? Impulse is Jabberwocky's new EP, designed as a soundtrack to the first rays of sunshine. The 6 tracks draw on the duo's DNA while turning their attention to the dancefloor.

There are raw, UK-style club tracks like G-SPEC, as well as tracks like Keep On that are reminiscent of the duo's signature: synths that flirt with melancholy and soaring, heady vocals that go straight to the heart. Finally, Good Tonight, inspired by disco samples, unfurls danceable loops carried by an ultra-efficient house rhythm. With each new release, Jabberwocky are forging a more dance-oriented path, and Impulse is a powerful affirmation of their new identity.

Title track ‘Serenity’ kicks things off in signature Amelie Lens style: a no-nonsense, high-impact techno cut built on pounding percussion and driving beats that lock you in from the first bar. Charged with tension and peak-time rave power, this is warehouse euphoria at its most refined – sharp, streamlined and dripping with mainstage heat. A powerful follow-up to her club weapon 'Falling For You', 'Serenity' fuses pulsing rhythms, warped synth textures and a guest vocal performance radiating in kinetic energy.

On the flip, ‘Club Of Extremes’ is an irresistible offset that sees Amelie dive into deeper, darker territory. Deliciously twisted club grooves, etheric, spacey pads and self-assured, icy-cool vocals give the track a heady, transcendent edge – part warehouse throb, part lucid dream.
