Oi Oi! The secret weapon is unleashed! Korea getting a bit frisky? Russia getting a bit heavy? Parachute Howla in. Job done. Before he even landed all the ladies would have knotted together a giant net made entirely from their own supply of undergarments, whilst their husbands would be leaping around at the edges with empty tubes of toilet roll in one hand, gerbils in the other, and pockets filled with weapons grade amyl nitrate. He swings so hard he has been forbidden by the government to ever stop at any motorway service station for fear of starting a dogging epidemic of such massive proportions that he may start a one man double dip recession. Now that's how swing he is!

Slamboree is a 10-piece live band with a Smörgåsbord of circus performers, daredevils & entertainers. We take each show as it comes, assembling a different crew from our collective for each show and every gig is very different to the last.

Musically we fuse bass-driven beats with live orchestra, guitars, percussion, loops, visuals, brass, accordian, pyrotechnics & circus. The genres bounce around glitch, breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass, dub & electro swing fused with balkan, folk, and 'gypsy' flavours... all original & all live.

DJ Marky is a proper veteran; both in terms of music and our working relationship. And as such it always feels a bit daunting to really know where to start when introducing him. Sure, he's had chart hits alongside underground smashes but that doesn’t really cut to the core of him. What’s fact is that the Brazilian master has been hosting parties here under the Marky & Friends and (his record label) Innerground banners here for a number of years now and, what's emphatically telling is that he remains one of the most energetic and entertaining DJs we've had the pleasure to host. Committed to putting movement in his music at all costs Marky’s returning to Farringdon next Friday to appear next to Calibre and Nightmares On Wax so he's put together the latest Marky & Friends mix which, with typical sun soaked flair, harbours more than a few handsome drum & bass nuggets…

Sharing a similar lightness of touch and a well defined ear for arrangements that veer long in the more musical end of the spectrum (as their latest promotional mix below displays), the duo have been continuing to serve up cuts and remixes that grab attention in all the right places earning plaudits from BBC Radio 1's d&b impresario, Friction. The Insiders hail from Bristol, a city that practically bleeds drum & bass. Producing and DJing as a duo, Ben Payne and Joe Wills have been making, releasing and playing deep d&b for over a decade now, running their own club night and operating the Intrigue Music label to house their productions. The Insiders’ sound has caught the attention of a lot of heads over their breadth of their career with their productions featuring on labels like Metalheadz, Creative Source, 31 Records and Renegade Hardware. Joining us on Friday 28th November to play alongside LTJ Bukem, Fabio and a special set from A Guy Called Gerald, they’ve kindly put together a promotional mix to help introduce their flavour ahead of their journey to London next week.

http://soundcloud.com/Philth is addicted to music; it is his breath and his lifeblood. A music teacher by day and DJ/producer by night, a more driven man you will not find. The very definition of ‘signature sound’, his heady mix of distorted filth & saturated breakbeats is the fuel behind a meteoric rise, turning the heads of the scene’s top DJs and talent spotters.

As one would expect given the track titles, neither tune beats about the bush.  The menacing, rumbling intro of Destroyer leads directly to philthy overdriven bass rips before dropping into a stomping, claustrophobic rhythm with which even the most nimble of foot will struggle to keep pace.

Genocide presents a slightly friendlier façade for all of 40 seconds before again taking a snarling turn darkwards, this time into a tearing, swaggering stepper. If, as the sample suggests, this is the future of the human race, a stab-proof vest may be a wise investment.

The hasty, pressured vocal snippets of Trojan wind up the tension before storming out of the gate accompanied by tight beats, antagonistic bass slabs and boundless energy. This is one part glitch, one part neuro and one part mechanical stepper; there’s a dank, malevolent force at work here but somehow not taken too seriously.

Coriolis is upbeat yet laid back, weaving its way through a cave system light-years from home, discovering as it goes a myriad of synthetic elements.  A perfect comparison and contrast with the A-side, this track manifests a similar brain in a very different body.

Inseparable German duo Rune & Kaiza, aka Instinkt, deliver a trademark solo effort backed with a collaboration with fellow countrymen Audio Habitat and hot-right-now MC Kryptomedic.

Kabuki is the more rolling of the two.  A precise, robotic technoid groove bringing to mind an android army marching heads-down into a black hole.  There is no escape from the hypnotic rhythm as we are pulled over the event horizon.

Gasket features a veritable German dream-team with the combined musical talents of Instinkt & Audio Habitat and the vocal prowess of Eatbrain’s MC Kryptomedic.  Snarling basses and full-bodied drums underpin Krypto’s relentless social commentary.

Santura is the sound of Fearful getting out of the wrong side of bed, grumpy and brooding. A bear with a sore head plods determinedly through a forest of chunky drum breaks, wrapped in a duvet of stomach-churning sub-bass before waking up during the breakdown to deliver a tantalisingly glitchy finish.

This track has already caught the ear of Kenny Ken, Optiv, Amoss, Nyx (Renegade Hardware), Dexta (Diffrent Music), Bad Education and Retraflex. 2012 has seen Fearful gain the support of an impressive list of DJs and, with a number of respected labels now sitting up and taking notice, the boys seem to be manoeuvring into position to take the scene by storm!

Santura has been chosen as the theme tune to The Drum And Bass Diaries, an 8-part series of short documentaries created by the crew behind the Genesis events in London and featuring some of the top London heads in the scene. We share a mutual love of dark, techy drum & bass, although we are involved with a range of other bass-led genres. We DJ and write music individually and together. We run the AutomAte family of digital labels, including AutomAte, AutomAte Deep and AutomAte Tech. AutomAte aims to bring you the best in edgy drum & bass, aimed square at the dancefloor, from rising stars to established artists, from chunky steppers to dark rollers and all manner of other fancy-ticklers.
