TR Tactics, the producer and DJ duo from Austria, have been storming up a lot of people’s lists of artists to watch in 2014. After releases on Citrus, Disturbed and Dissected Culture, they drop ABREC07 on Addictive Behaviour, their latest and greatest work to date.

Addictive are one of the most forward thinking labels out there, always allowing the talent and dedication of their artists to shine through, and Time Slice/Cone is no exception. After their success in the D&B Arena remix competition, and a series of amazing releases, the duo are definitely on the rise.

Time Slice starts off as a dark, ominous roller, full of atmosphere and deep level vibes. The beats drop in when you least expect them, charging head long into some very dangerous territory. Switching electronics accompany the drop, where forceful bass comes right at you, shaking the ground with its intensity. A real builder, the amazing lengths the producers have gone to are realised in full when you give this one your full attention. Feel the power of Time Slice as it unfolds around you, reminding you how all of the buzz about TR Tactics is perfectly justified. A seriously essential piece of music.

The very definition of ‘signature sound’, his heady mix of distorted filth & saturated breakbeats is the fuel behind a meteoric rise, turning the heads of the scene’s top DJs and talent spotters.

As one would expect given the track titles, neither tune beats about the bush.  The menacing, rumbling intro of Destroyer leads directly to philthy overdriven bass rips before dropping into a stomping, claustrophobic rhythm with which even the most nimble of foot will struggle to keep pace.

Genocide presents a slightly friendlier façade for all of 40 seconds before again taking a snarling turn darkwards, this time into a tearing, swaggering stepper. If, as the sample suggests, this is the future of the human race, a stab-proof vest may be a wise investment.

Following on from the success of his LTD debut early last year, Philth is back on Dispatch, for the main label this time, with a first EP entitled ‘The Cosmos’. 

The attention to detail is instantly notable from Philth’s output and much like the cosmos itself, very complex entities are carefully controlled and manipulated for maximum effect. Despite the destruction each track causes on the dancefloor, they are also composed, with the master in charge consciously aware of every element.

‘The Hunted’ sets this off as Philth collaborates with Belgian producer Bredren for a shadowy, sinister encounter, delivered with haunting with atmospherics and a fierce progression that continues to gather momentum.

‘Incantation’ is an industrial stepper that hits hard on the bottom end, with London based Agman Gora featuring on vocals, with techy mids smearing across in signature Philth style. Title track ‘Cosmos’ is marked by an intro of epic proportions, as orchestral elements coincide, building anticipation to cinematic levels; a perfect set opener.

Philth also links up with Nottingham based P-Fine on vocals to form a deadly combination on the mighty ‘Greed’, alongside an added Dub Mix as well. Concluding the EP is ‘Souzou VIP’. The original featured on his Dispatch LTD single last year) and the VIP twists this into oblivion, with drum switch ups that bring Souzou’s original soul back into focus for this 2015 release.

Inseparable German duo Rune & Kaiza, aka Instinkt, deliver a trademark solo effort backed with a collaboration with fellow countrymen Audio Habitat and hot-right-now MC Kryptomedic.

Kabuki is the more rolling of the two.  A precise, robotic technoid groove bringing to mind an android army marching heads-down into a black hole.  There is no escape from the hypnotic rhythm as we are pulled over the event horizon.

Gasket features a veritable German dream-team with the combined musical talents of Instinkt & Audio Habitat and the vocal prowess of Eatbrain’s MC Kryptomedic.  Snarling basses and full-bodied drums underpin Krypto’s relentless social commentary.
