4 years ago he dipped his toe into the world of production and is now on a mission to recreate the sci-fi soundscapes he found so inspiring to begin with.

You can catch Ewok live in the South East regularly, especially in Brighton.  This podcast mix represents his club style, flicking effortlessly through many styles of drum & bass.

Lenzman is back on Metalheadz with his first original work since his debut album Looking At The Stars. The EP is everything you would expect from Lenzman; soulful and well produced with a firm eye on the dancefloor. The release features regular collaborators Steo, Dan Stezo and newcomer producer Forren.  It’s a welcome return to the label for Lenzman with six massive tracks that remind us of what a talent the producer is.

With such a cultural crossover building up his personal influences, there's something uniquely diverse about Fuj's productions. Clean and crisp on first glance, peer deeper into the abyss and intricate soundscapes appear from below the surface.

Death Trader weaves a thick electric sunrise; effortless, dream-like atmosphere and totemic instruments appear over the horizon, supplanted by scratching synth bass and steadily thumping sub.

The world was a wondrous place. Technology had unlocked the skies; beings from far off planets had become new friends. The dream of utopia beckoned as humanity lifted itself towards transcendence.

Till one day, from within, they appeared. Ravenous, disfigured monsters, mad with an unquenchable lust for flesh, rampaging through villages and cities, consuming and infecting all they met with an incurable plague: the Kannibalen virus. As this tide of death spread uncontrollably, the rich fled to the stars and the visitors quarantined the planet, leaving the rest to fend for themselves. Some hid in far off wastelands, others locked themselves in walled cities, salvaging what they could to preserve what was left of civilization. Amidst the chaos, some sought profit and power: opportunists, war mongers, pirates twisted by evil; whispers spread of half-breads and mutants twisting their strings from the shadows. But hope still lived. Bands of survivors, fighting to preserve humanity and restore the world to what it was.

This is the story of one of these groups.

‘The Frog' unites Fuj & Cirrus for a snapping, driving underground anthem which lets you know exactly what these artists are about. Lumbering but never once losing impact, it's littered with nastily distorted LFO and grinding beat patterns. Not for the faint hearted, Fuj & Cirrus don't disappoint. Cirrus comes next with ‘Ether', again bringing the edgier, grunting sounds present throughout its predecessor, while utilising vocal samples to take you through the drops. The pace is then increased, switching between layers and giving no hope of pulling yourself out of its construction line of snipping drums and lasers.

Fuj offers up next, with climatic, quaking sub bass and smashing kick throughout ‘Gun of a Son'. Its percussion and crashing breaks are intimidating, killing any commercial vibes in the vicinity. Rounding off the EP is ‘Aphotic Zone'; Cirrus jumps on remix duties for Fuj this time, once again integrating their production might and creating a towering concoction of creepy atmospherics and wavering voice notes.

Fuj and Cirrus are not to be underestimated. Between them they're invading the underground and moving towards the big leagues.

Tokyo’s Heavy1 scoops up top-drawer tech-roller skunks Craggz & Parallel for his new Yabai 84 project, and result is a typically tough yet pleasingly funky nugget of bashy tech filth. Face-slapping snares slam down amid gristly, scurrilous mid-range warpings, yet the knotty synths are laced with a bouncy, bullfrogging bass melody that burps and parps along in fine dancefloor style. Check the flip for Heavy1’s own efforts: a stop-start technoid percussion trip that rattles and jars off to infinity.
