For the opening of the DEEPtHREEM Minimal Room Series, we invite Mandarin (https://soundcloud.com/mandarin-ffr), the co-founder of Fantastic Friends Recordings, to present our concept of deep minimal.

Born in 1975, Mandarin starts djing in 1995 in France. It’s in Geneva-Switzerland that his career has taken another turn. His jobs as owner of a vinyls shop during the 200’s, event organizer and artistic director of some night-club’s mades him know as nobody how to drive a party. Doing radio shows and djing all over Europe for more than 20 years (A Redbull Tour in Czech Republic still stay is best souvenir), he shared decks with some of famous Dj’s of the past and actual scene as Gene Farris, Onionz, Lil’Louis, Harry Romero, Djul’z, Craig Alexander, Dave Angel, Steeve Bicknell, Terry Francis and many more…

His sets explore all the trends of undergound electronic music with the sole aim of making people dance, dream and travel. His tracks are always mixed with great precision and he offers a selection as surprising as it is coherent. Ghetto house, dub house, melodic and progressive deep-tech, minimal house and techno are all the component of his music styles.

Since April 2021, Mandarin is the programmer of the Fantastic Friends Radio Show’s on Bloop London Radio, Manilla Community Radio, GDS.FM & Maxximixx Underground.

Kostadin Iliev (https://soundcloud.com/kostadin-iliev-34765446) was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria in 1994. He grew up in Rousse, then moved to the sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna. Fascinated by house music, spending years attending various house clubs, he decided to learn this art in details.  He started his career in 2017. From playing in different clubs in Bulgaria through organising gigs in unusual places to producing his own music, radiating a signature sound. 

His production is a stirring experience of deep - minimal house with sneaky drops of dub and tech house. The young Bulgarian has proved himself to be a proper dance floor pleaser across labels such as: Psicodelica, Nevada, Family Electro Music, Habitat, IWant Music, Substrate Music and more.

"I call this type of DJ set ‘euphoric disco rave’. It’s one of the routes I usually take when DJing, that’s centered more around the disco sound rather than synth or techno. The music I’d play in the morning hours on the open air. So you can expect to hear an over abundance of melodies, vocals, gospel singing, strings, pianos blowing up on top of powerful house beats and groves. As an eclectic DJ I like to mix all sub genres of dance music, be it trance, disco, Italo or tech-house. What’s Important to me is the matching energies, moods and grooves between the tracks. And I always try to keep the energy high, almost frantic. 

I like to give people the entertainment, emotions and euphoria. It always fascinates me to see how music can change people’s mood, make them feel happy, put a smile on someone’s face, facilitate connection between strangers who resonate on the same vibe. It’s the most magical reward for me in DJing."

You can never take the passion for music away from DJs who have lived the experience and have that itch to always do more. That itch became an insatiable urge for DJ Producer and label owner Daniel Button(https://soundcloud.com/user-194061) and despite a lengthy time away from the scene, he has returned to the fray like a man reborn.

Strangely it was the pandemic and the emergence of virtual festivals that rekindled his flame and now there is no turning back. His style of Deep, Minimal House is ever present as he blows the cobwebs of his imprint N.O.N. Music with his Berlin-based partner The Pushamann; a relationship which has endured for over 25 years. Releasing a slew of tracks before temporarily shutting down the creative juices, the London borne artist has now relocated his craft to the German capital of electronic music showcasing his wares to brand new audiences.

Bringing his dynamic, fluid and versatile style to the Berlin crowd has seen him spread his magic dust at venues such as Golden Gate, Paloma, Sisyphos and more. His energy and dedication to deliver a solid groove to the dancefloor is now bearing fruit in the studio with extraordinary tracks locked in for release.

Beginning where he left off at the label he lovingly created, there is no doubt that the future looks incredibly bright for Daniel Button; not only as a DJ, but as a producer riding the crest of a wave. As 2022 enters the second half of the year, watch the horizon as N.O.N. Music delivers on all of those promises made over a decade ago. This is a positive that will never go away.

I'm a retired City Worker from The Brantford Ontario Works Dept of 34 years of service,
I was 9 years old when I started taking drum lessons with the Ontario Conservatory Of Music,
I taught drum lessons and played in a band that played blues, country, 50's, blue grass,
I started making playlists at the age of 12 years old (1975) Pioneer Turntable, Cassette Deck, Receiver & two 50 watt Speakers.
