LUIGI DI VENERE - GOLDEN PLEASURES 028

“Well, I’ve been travelling a lot. Italy, the UK and Japan were my highlights. More holidays than work so I got lucky. Playing music for people I would never ever dare to call ‘work’ anyways. Besides I set up my new studio above Renate club here in Berlin. Maybe this was a bit of work then? Building absorbers, renovating and stuff to make the room sound good, you know. So I’m looking forward to next winter season where I should be spending a lot time inside by then. Wait, no heating installed yet. Damn.

The mix was recorded at my Neukölln apartment. I was using the Standard setup: My beloved 10 year old Rane Empath Rotary Mixer, a bunch of CDJs as well as the classic Technics 1210. Another amp from the 80s and one day I got some older Canton speakers. Music all went into the tascam recorder. So that is that.

The idea of a dj mix, that is still a tough one. After thinking about it for months (or seconds for that matter) I just told myself ‘it’s basically one hour of dance music’ … right? So I went through my digital and analog shelves and went for a selection of music I like to play and (rarely but it happens) dance to these days. A lot of upcoming stuff I made myself plus some soon-to-be-released music and some arpy trance classic back from 1993 as a bonus. So yeah a bit of everything, including sloppy mixes. I tried hard not to get you bored. Maybe we should call this mix ‘The Idea Of A Trance Part 7’?”

In my first night as a 'Zugezogener', I played from 05-08am at the infamous Wintergarten of Sisyphos, Berlin. Probably my best set so far as measured by the grinning faces. Hope you like the sunday morning story I'm trying to tell! Parental Advisory: Contains some explicit dance anthems by my favourite producers like Fort Romeau, Palms Trax, Lauer & a plenty of his aliases. Many more, but these ones were the Woohoo moments. Next time, let me play longer, please!

This is why when a man like Philipp approaches us with a mix of wonderful music and a smile to match we take notice. Based in Berlin he is a disc jockey on the rise who is playing parties regularly amidst a close knit circle of friends - he has moulded a collection of tracks in a precise and intricate manner with imaginative twists and turns along the way. He even picked one of our records in there, what a gentleman. 

Anyway, here to brighten up your Wednesday is a dance floor focused mix with a bang.

A lot of water & beers, one hotdog, one falafel sandwich, three toilet breaks, the smoke machine almost knocking me unconscious during Dan Hartman's 'Vertigo' (I could hardly see my records), one girlfriend-birthday-song-request ('Freed from Desire', I do love that song), heavy feedback from the vinyl record players, records skipping, one sit-down, a full house from the first record until the last fade out by Freddie Mercury, and TONS of DANCING. Truly one of the best DJ nights of my life.

My favourite song of the night starts shortly after 5 hours, 26 minutes and 8 seconds. 

Thanks Sam, Bram, Joppe, Martijn, Mikey, Tom, Sabrina & every one that danced the night away. Enjoy!

Nomads Festival 6 hours non-stop DJ set

A selection of our favorite and most played tracks in 2018 on different parties or just while having fun in Berlin. We recorded our Spätsommer follow-up exactly one year later and tried to put all the high energy hits into a two hour mix. 'Vorglühen' in German basically means to get ready to party, to warm yourself up, to glow. As temperatures are currently rising towards spring we're getting ready for a summer with killers (no fillers), hope you enjoy!!

Paradise Architects - Frühlingsglühen '18

Last summer we played at the brilliant Paupa Bar on Menorca again at the Full Moon party of July. The set is all about a very diverse and colourful collection of tracks; lots of percussions and warm sounds mixed with some pretty recognisable tunes. Though we had some technical issues while playing, the vibe on that open terrace in front of the sea was absolute gold. Hope you enjoy!
