We close out this 10-years of Avenue Red mini series with a debut mix from veteran crate digger and deep house & techno specialist, Tomas Bexton from Maidstone in Kent, England. A vinyl-only session. This is mostly comprised of some of our all-time favourite oldskool deep house gems, mixed with utmost smoothness! 10/10.

"I am not a professional DJ or a music producer, you could call me a long-standing vinyl collector of electronic and (mostly) house music since the 1990's. This mix focuses mainly on deep house with a definite nod to a couple of decades back at least.

My aim is to let the records and music do the work, with (hopefully!) a smooth mixing style. I want to feel a sense of peace through the records, maintaining the deep feel throughout. Avenue Red Podcast welcomes Marseille-based DJ/artist Sarah Goldfarb for his debut mix on the series. Mastermind of the most hilarious and incisive techno scene memes (for which he is fast becoming uniquely infamous), he is best known to us for his scintillating, deep, shimmering, minimal, clicky micro house & techno releases pressed in the 2000's.

Many older Avenue Red heads will recall some of the important labels he graced, including: Riley Reinhold's Trapez Ltd; Treibstoff; Dumb-Unit; Curle Recordings; 200 Records; Toys For Boys Records and more. It's great to have him back, adding his fresh, zesty ideas once again to this rather murky and unusual realm of the underground. This mix is truly magical. Taste it.

Having been involved since day one, from remixing soundscape in the early 90’s.
To projects with Techno luminary Craig Walsh, moving to A&R, the architect behind many projects of yesteryear which paved a path for the deeper side of House & Techno, to critical acclaim.
Working for Kickin Records, home of Slip N Slide, Warlock, being the original A&R at Kickin records left, leaving Scott to compile many compilations from producers in the 90’s, including the ‘Elements of Jazz’ series, featuring 3MB feat:Juan Atkins, Dave Angel, Glen Underground, Dan Curtin, K Alexi, Patrick Pulsinger, Black Jazz Chronicles (Ashley Beadle), Model 500, Ian O’Brien, As One (Kirk Degiorgio).
Also, the Techno Nations Vol 6 & 7, featuring Monolake, James Ruskin, Surgeon, Kosmic Messenger, The Advent, Jay Denham, Space DJs, Joey Beltram, Drexciya, Planetary Assault Systems, then ‘The Freestyle Fusion’ compilation for Dynamite Joint recordings, featuring artists Stasis, Bandulu, Afronaught, The Cinematic Orchestra.
He has played all over the world and continues to this day.

It's New Year's Eve 2014 and we have just managed to get to our 30th episode thanks to the handy-work of Kammerton (real name Stepan Chernov), a diverse musical talent who hails from the Russian city of Ulyanovsk, located on the Volga River 900 kilometres east of Moscow. Now living in Moscow, Stepan is an accomplished pianist, kapellmeister (chapel master/director of a choir), electronic music producer, DJ, sound engineer, sound designer for films & cartoons and he also runs the video podcast www.friendly-vibes.com, which is as he puts it: "for all lovers of warm groove and high spirits".

Stepan has played at many clubs across central Russia and has held residencies at Moscow clubs Shanti and Propaganda and also on RTS.FM Moscow. He first caught our interest with his slick production work, most notably the amazing Take Me For Granted EP from 2012 that was released on Housewax, from which the track "A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats" was played on Avenue Red Radio show 004: https://soundcloud.com/avenue-red/radio-show-004. This mix is a mega deep, dark and groovy session of mysterious House and Techno, with lots of new music featured. Crank it on at high volume for your NYE celebrations, and be sure to download a copy... you may find that this mix really grows on you!

"This mix is written spontaneously, one Sunday evening. I felt the need to unwind and leave the house. Quickly gathering my DJ bag, I went to a nice friendly bar in my home town of Ulyanovsk where I could play at any time. The venue did not want anything too active and energetic, the more so because it was Sunday, so I played deep and groovy styles. In recent times, I have found that I absolutely do not want to drink alcohol and I have been getting into different tea drinks, such as oolong. It gets me into an amazing deep meditative state and it helps me to really swing it in the mix." Stepan Chernov, December 2014
