@soma electro sub-label, Avoidant Records assemble a fresh rogue squadron for another massive compilation as 16 electro warriors take on the ‘Dark Planet’.

After the impact of last year's huge ‘Defend Your Planet’ VA, Avoidant immediately set about recruiting another incredible group of artists that represent the Glasgow based label’s output.
‘Dark Planet’ brings together established, classic and up and coming producers who take their cues from the Detroit and European schools of electro. Gathered from across the planet - from Australia, Holland, the USA and UK - the compilation sound is geared up for the dancefloor.

The breaks influenced ‘Wish You’d Leave’ from Three Faces Of Eve opens with a dark and ominous vibe before the legendary DJ Godfather drops a stripped, funk laced bomb on ‘It’s Only Detroit’. The UK’s Steve Allman takes things ‘Next Level’ with some straight up twisted and aggressive beats as Dutch wizard Versalife leans on more sci-fi elements with his ‘Shift Levels’. Having already appeared on a previous label VA, another Dutch connection in the form of Helsmoortel delivers some heavy rocking old skool vibes as a more emotive approach is taken by Flug on ‘Just You’. Assembler Code steps up for Avoidant once more with some hyper production skills on the mutant bass styled ‘Architects’. Detroit’s own Blaktony means business with the direct and funktional ‘Produkt’ before The Exaltics bring things down with the deep and sweeping ‘One Direct Line’. The enigmatic VRIL sets up the back end of the compilation nicely with his signature sound soaking up snappy percussive beats. Huge bass waves direct from The Lord Of the Isles on ‘Approach & Identify’ glide across dubbed out percussion and effective melodies. PARAND’s ‘Archangel’ is a dark and gnarly bass driven affair while Australia’s own 88756 makes your ‘Fine Dining Experience’ a rather forbidding one.

The compilation will be released on digital platforms on 22nd November this year, with a four track vinyl sampler to follow in early 2022 featuring a vinyl only exclusive Dub Mix of Flug’s contribution to the release.

Aleksandar Grozdanovski who is better known by his alias Herzel is present on the international electronic music scene for more than 10 years. Starting off as a photographer and visual artist after gaining a degree in art and applied photography in Sophia, 2007. Aleksandar did not remain in one sphere only, but wandered around. From a very early age he had an interest in the arts. From comic books to sci-fi, photography and visual arts, movies - always curious - music was the only passion that lasted until this day. His music style is best described as an entanglement of many genres, from post punk, synthwave, ebm, indie electronic, as his early influences, to house and techno. Nowadays, Aleksandar mostly explores the nuances between techno and house.

In 2019 Aleksandar started to work as an editor for the Macedonian Telekom Electronic Beats and was featured in the 20 Years of Electronic Beats book.
He co-runs a vinyl-only label Bran (БРАН). The idea behind the label is to utilize Macedonian jazz, funk and pop music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s in today’s context of electronic music. To broaden this idea on the international scale, BRAN invites artists from all over the globe to work on editing the original music. So far the artists that worked on these two releases are: Eddie C, Daniela La Luz, Uabos, Metropolitan Soul Museum, Flute Power and Herzel. At the moment their second release is out, distributed by Bordello A Parigi.

In 2020 he started releasing more experimental and abstract synthesis works under the HRZL alias. First album is called “Subtopia” and was released on cassette by the UK label Soundtracking The Void. “Furies”' is the second mini-album that came out in 2020 as a self-release. The album “Exoteric” was released on TEOREMA/Diffuse Reality, 2021. HRZL tracks are featured in various artists compilations: “Coping Mechanisms (Electronic Meditations)” - Dimension of Being Human, “The Rising Sound Of Skopje” - Стотројка, “Year 1” - Kulture Galerie.

At the peak of his live acts were his appearances at Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Electronic Beats Festival in Skopje and Love International Festival in Croatia. Besides constantly playing at renewed underground clubs and parties around the globe, Aleksandar is a regular at Parallel showcases and Berlin’s most infamous clubs such as: Tresor, Griessmuehle, Sisyphos, Ipse & Salon Zur Wilde Renate.

@subsist next release arrives courtesy of Spanish producer @victorsantanaofficial. With the tried and true TR-909 lending the track its sturdy skeleton, a growling synth gives it some angsty edge, while the higher-pitched tones seem to hint at some kind of imminent meltdown.
