In just a few years, Josh Butler has firmly established himself as one of house music's most revered talents. 2016 saw the launch of his label Origins, with Josh welcoming the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Todd Terry, Robert Owens and Santé to the imprint since, scoring his second Beatport #1 through his and Bontan’s stand out ‘Call You Back’ in early 2017. Add to the equation EPs on Kaoz Theory, Rejected and Defected, collaborations with Kerri Chandler and Darius Syrossian, and remixes for industry heavyweights Carl Cox and Joris Voorn, and it’s clear to see that Josh Butler is only just getting started. No wonder that Nick Curly and Gorge are very proud about his debut EP on their 8bit Records imprint.

Ahead of the release of his second artist album, Current II, Avotre label boss Santé is teasing us with a fantastic first EP from it. 

The new album is a real artistic development that shows off plenty of new musical maturity, and these tracks hint at that. It comes after nine years of turning out real club dynamite on his own label Avotre as well as many other labels such as Rekids, Souvenir, Desolat and Cocoon.

Up first is Emotional Closer, a hard hitting and driving house track with pounding drums. It is co-produced with Joaquin DeKoen, a new young talent from Argentina, and has spoken word vocals that get you in a trance as the balmy pads bring real soul and colour. 

Sunset Boulevard is a Detroit style house jam with raw Roland drums and manic synth lines filled with texture and energy. 

It is a futuristic track that takes you on a real trip through the cosmos, and finally Twisted Love offers excellent broken drum patterns and a musical bassline that goes deep and will sweep up the shadiest of crowds. 

This is a brilliant taster of the much anticipated full length to come.

Hotly tipped newcomer, Eskuche, debuts on Hannah Wants’ Etiquette this month with his brand new ‘Passion’ EP. The US based DJ and producer has recently risen up the Tech House ranks after a string of successful releases on lauded labels; Relief, Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars, Sola and elrow which have won him the respect of Pete Tong, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and MK who have all supported his music in their sets. ‘Passion’ replicates Eskuche’s renowned sound; hard hitting rhythmic drums, clever kicks, signature grooves and a heavy bass line. ‘Won’t Stop’ rounds off the EP; a deep, rumbling groove with heavyweight house percussion and a pulsating bass line which underpins a hypnotic, dubbed out vocal lick. Eskuche - Passion

Named King of the Edit since the 1980’s, pioneering Manhattan DJ Danny Krivit’s (aka Mr K) latest delivery instils the title bestowed upon him some 30 years ago. An esteemed selector Danny’s prolific remixing and production capabilities have touched hundreds of records – with his signature flare shaping the New York City sound. Opening the two-track release is Danny edit this summer’s seminal track The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, interweaving a gloriously groovy bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to produce an extended, DJ friendly mix that he sent crowds wild with at Dekmental Festival. Up next, Mr K delves a little deeper into the Defected catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back version extends the jazzy, percussive original, as velvety smooth vocals and elegant keys bring this expressive and sophisticated release to a close.
