I used to think You Are My Sunshine was a happy song until I recently read all the lyrics. I never realised how sad the story is. So with that in mind, in this version I leave out 2 of the 3 original verses and just focus on the outcome of the original lyrics, by putting the remaining verse and chorus in the past tense.
