We all experience at certain times in our lives challenges that call into question our benchmarks. It is then an occasion to find new opportunities to move forward. It is also an opportunity to open ourselves up better to others and to move towards new ones perspectives, like a passage that takes us to a new place.

Over the Rainbow [instrumental] Trumpet and piano

I did this trumpet and piano version in early 2021.

Two favourite covers come to mind for this famous classic. One is by Israel Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole from Hawaii who is no longer with us and Eva Cassidy who has also departed this earthly plain. Both are on youtube. Eva has some other great songs there as well.

A partial remake of my earlier rearrangement of Frédéric Chopin's Revolutionary Etude, Op. 10 No. 12. 

A Sunday excercise where I laid down a bass part with the Jazz Bass Ultra on top of my earlier rearrangement. I played the electric piano part originally 2.5 years ago as midi in several takes. Also some midi note corrections and quantizations were made back then especially since the changing of the rhythm turned out to be more difficult for the left hand than I expected.. I'm not a pro bassist but it sure was fun playing this! I also didn't want the bass to steal all the attention from the keyboard part:)

Tis a noble sport but it does have its downside. The lifespan of a wrestler is typically reduced by 15-20 years attributed to the health consequences of the sumo diet. They are also banned from driving cars partly due to being too big to fit behind a steering wheel. The Sumo Wrestler

I would like to introduce my son, Joseph, who indulged his dad and did a fabulous job of filling out the end of this short tune with some wonderful guitar soloing on the outro. Even though he has only been playing for a few years, he is miles ahead of where I was at his age as a musician. I couldn't be prouder, and I know that my dad is looking down and smiling, as he played piano and wrote music. I hope this is the first of many!
