This tune is about contrasts and intensity in life, in remembrance of a completely forgotten ancient roman revolutionary, who geniously resisted then dictator lucius cornelius sulla: quintus sertorius (123–72 bc).
All of this music was played with a 1979 jazz guitar (ibanez gb 10), roland e-20 analog space echo, electro harmonix eh-5000 ring modulator, boss rc-2 looper and a floor pod plus - all in first takes and directed with a fv-500l expression pedal.

Eyes

I wrote this song 15 years ago for close friend and guitarist Elmer Stone. Elmer and I have collaborated on three songs on Soundcloud but this one is purely a tribute to him and the friendship we have shared for the past thirty-plus years.  It is also a memorial for his wife Bonnie who he lost two years ago. She was a core contributor to his music, life partner, and his best friend.
I am indebted to Mike Fox and Axel Meningen for taking my rough demo of the song and making it a broadcast quality production. The lines (translated, edited, retranslated, reedited...) derive from "Philoctetes“ (409 B.C.), a Greek tragedy by Sophocles (496 - 405 B.C.). Mainly it is Ulysses speaking to Neoptolemos (The son of Achilles) in order to conspire against the bowman Philoctetes…

Dance

The opening is dedicated to the wonderful music of John Coltrane. His ballad 'Naima' was the inspiration for the first part of this tune, played in one take. The second half is a spontaneously created latin jazz impro, played spontaneously in two spontaneous first takes too - on the rhythmic and the solo track. 

'Waters of Life' was generously featured over several months on Neworld TV in New York City (many thanks to Sasha Hohri for the biig support).
