Spotlight

Some sunday morning vintage mood playing with my 1980 GB10 on lead and rhythm. The lovely Jamey Aebersold play-a-long is from '80 too and this is my today's tribute to GB and to the inspiring guys from back then.

Mundão

A little soundcheck with my historic Framus archtop from 1958. The guitar is solid built and strongly arched. The subsequently installed AZ48 pickup fits perfectly on this old but well-preserved instrument. The string distance to the fretboard is high, as the most guitars of that time didn't have a tension rod (means: not too easy to play them today :). But on the other hand this guitar is very lightweight and has a stunning natural feel in the hands of the player. Well, this little improvisation came out while my first try with it.

The opening is dedicated to the wonderful music of John Coltrane. His ballad 'Naima' was the inspiration for the first part of this tune, played in one take. The second half is a spontaneously created latin jazz impro, played spontaneously in two spontaneous first takes too - on the rhythmic and the solo track. 

'Waters of Life' was generously featured over several months on Neworld TV in New York City (many thanks to Sasha Hohri for the biig support).

"Changing Sky" electronic music with electric guitar and vocals. a change in the sky , a change in fortunes?  just playing around with ideas for a song,

Longtime ago I had this recurring nightmare, a typical scene of being chased,  by something very frightening... 
I was running away from something very scary, down lanes, roads and passageways. In one of these dreams I ran so fast I had to jump over a fence that suddenly appeared in front of me,
 as I leapt over it I took off!  , I was flying!... flying through this city, 
 anyways, back to the point. Years later I had the nightmare again, but this time I was frightened so much I woke up ! 
 at that point I realised this was that old recurring nightmare, 
so I decided to go straight back to sleep and try to bring that nightmare back and go looking for what ever was chasing me remembering it was just a dream. And I did just that!
...in dreams you can be invincible :)

This experimental acoustic piece is meant to portray the Phoenician goddess Tanit fighting for her life in the darkest depths of the sea… I'm encouraging disinformation here, because "true legends" about her don't relate her drowning... Fake news or T.S. Eliot's influence in this title?

After our previous collaboration, I was so pleased when EllE (Cycle of Hands) agreed to work with me again on this new track, both with the music and vocals. It has not exactly been an easy ride and I have to admit that at times I almost gave up on it...but I am so, so glad that we both persevered, as '4am' has become something rather special and unique. Huge thanks to EllE. She is - and always will be - a star.
