Fade Away

Under the Grand Arbour uses A♭ lydian (purple) and D♭ lydian (green), with meandering cascading arpeggios to evoke images of bougainvillea on a clear blue sky day. An improvisatory-like theme is reminiscent of the unpredictable natural form of plant-life. The entire piece is built on six notes stated at the beginning, like the six steel prongs at the QPac start of the arbour walk. This is a nostalgic song lamenting the complete transformation through development in modern days of a once rural area where I spent a lot of time during my childhood on day trips and weekend bush camps. Such is progress!

This song was composed in memory of my little girl, who passed away a year ago. It's a tribute filled with love and nostalgia, a musical offering that seeks to embrace her memory.
