Lingering Light in Winter’s Embrace

They weren’t looking for a name.

They were looking for a pattern.

But the pattern... had a name.

It starts with something small:
A glitch in the project files.
A folder labeled “Tom Drafts – BandSim.”
A stray comment in the metadata:
Output generated via BandSim_v1.3

Kate notices it first.
Then Julian digs deeper—track by track.
They cross-check lyrics, chord changes, timestamps.

Every single file.
Every rehearsal log.
Every verse.
Everything that they have ever done.
Everything they are planning to do, but haven't told anyone yet.

And there it is.
They didn’t write the songs.
Not really.

They were written.

Characters.

Imagined by someone they’ve never met—
a person named Tom.
With a keyboard.
And a cat.
And too many ideas.

The band reacts the way anyone would:

Denial.
Julian slams his laptop shut.
“We’re not characters,” he says, voice sharp.
“We would have known it.”

Anger.
Ava throws a pen across the room.
“Then why do I feel this way?” she snaps.
“Who gave them the right to make it feel real?”

Bargaining.
Theo opens his notebook like it might contain a better answer.
“Maybe we were real once,” he mutters.
“Maybe this is some adaptation… inspired by us...?”

Depression.
Kate leans back in her chair.
“So that’s it. We’re just someone’s playlist.
Moodboard personalities with harmonies.”

Acceptance.
Silence. Then Ava, softly:
“…Okay. But the harmonies?
Those are still ours.”

And then, slowly—
they begin to understand.

Being made up?
It’s not that rare.

People get imagined and reimagined all the time.
By families.
By friends.
By forms and fiction and memory.

Everyone is a story.
Sometimes self-written.
Sometimes ghostwritten.
Sometimes unfinished.

Ava looks up. “Wait… the cat. That’s real, right?”

They all look at Kate.

Kate shrugs.
“I hope so. I honestly don’t remember not having a cat.”

This is Test 12.

Not the moment you discover you’re not real.

The moment you ask—
“Now that I know…
do I still get to play, right?”

Test 12: Who Imagined You? (Who Imagined You?)

Introduction and Lyrics in English:

The ghost forest really does exist on the German Baltic coast. Over the centuries, the beech, oak and ash trees have taken on bizarre shapes due to the Baltic wind and the many storms. To me, they look like bent, crooked figures that seem to be on the run from the recurring storms. 
As almost all the trees have only one crown and are completely bare underneath, they also give me the impression that they have shut themselves off from the fury of the storms and withdrawn into themselves.
In my imagination, the storms stand for the inner ghosts or demons that more or less haunt everyone rarely, sometimes often or always at night.  
For me, the trees in turn symbolize the sometimes panic-like fears and the need to flee when the inner ghosts appear.   
At the same time, in my mind the trees also stand for the great achievement of some people who nevertheless live and continue to live under the impression of permanent demonic inner storms: Admittedly somehow crooked, slanted and crooked; but nevertheless in a marvelous way peculiar, unmistakable and original.
This is the background against which the song ""Ghostly Forest"" was created.

Ilhams Song

So, this is actually a song I wrote about a year ago.  Went through an added more to it but the one thing I concentrated on was something I wasn't totally aware of.  The loudness penalty that can occur when uploading music.  So, I adjusted everything to get more in line to what it needs to be hopefully this gets the track more to what it needs to be for quality for what it is.  No means is this a professional mix and master but hopefully a little closer.  Writing music and putting it all together and then mixing it and mastering it myself is a hobby I have and still have a lot of learning as I go.  If curious you can go back and listen to the first works, I have and see if you can hear the improvement of this journey. Hope you enjoy this one and thanks for listening.
