Ryan Johnson and Miles George met in the late fall of 2007 while attending Finger Lakes Community College. Right from the get-go, their musical tastes and styles became immediately entangled together, in which they began writing music together on a small level. Once their friendship and musical ideas grew and meshed, they decided to start writing and recording an EP together. Throughout the span of 2 to 3 years, they had figured out exactly what they wanted as far as their sound and the tracks that would make it to their EP. From that point, RJ and Cu-Cu was born.

After months of playing acoustic sets and many open mic nights around Rochester, Ryan and Miles discussed the possibility of putting a band together. They wanted to capture a similar sound from their EP and bring it to the stage with a bassist and a drummer to serve as a backbone. Luckily, that idea would quickly become a reality. Rochester natives Nick Parker and Chris Murtha completed the group in the late summer of 2011, with Parker on bass guitar and Murtha on drums. After this addition, the possibilities for Ryan's and Miles' songs were endless, and quickly the band started picking up various gigs at Bug Jar, Water Street Music Hall and other venues around Rochester. 

Shortly after a few shows, Ryan and the bandmates settled on the name This Life, a simple statement referring to living in the present and not becoming immersed in the past. The band released their album 'Days Of Old' in spring 2012. After a year of several shows and radio appearances, Nick Parker and Chris Murtha left the group, leaving the dynamic duo to continue where they started. After months of playing acoustic gigs, Ryan and Miles decided to reform the band, bringing in Scotty Dupra on bass and Aaron Davis on drums. They are currently playing all over Rochester and are looking forward to broadening their horizons as a great live band.
