Another piece of Techno from the deeper shades of the genre. Fantastic!

Of course that used to be a great Techno & House-night on both floors of the Parkside club. And I still live those special Psycho Thrill "Save The Robots" graphics. Unmatched to this day!!

STROM TON Cologne impresario Stefan Eul invited the Psycho Thrill CGN boss-man and radio colleague Claus Bachor especially for the 3rd anniversary of his 674.fm broadcast. And he played nothing but a consistently slammin' BreakBeat/ HiTechFunk/ House set on the cutting edge of TECHNO, that Cologne/Düsseldorf club aficionados otherwise got or get to hear in the legendary BNKR, on the BangTech12 rooftop of the Detroit Bookie's or currently in pandemic free times at the Golzheim Club in Düsseldorf. Not really a surprise, but definitely the appropriate sound framework for everyone who feels committed to the real Techno underground. In addition, the whole thing "handmade" only from vinyl and without compromises.

I greet you out there again, somewhere on this Planet.
We are in the fourth year of this Electronic Arts Podcast and with this edition we reach a point that I actually never even dreamed of at the beginning.
Actually a small anniversary, ESOA podcast number 50!
Which was only possible with a very big thanks and will continue to be in the future, with my great guests. Who make the whole thing what it is, a podcast with continuously selected good music.
For this edition it was clear for a long time that we needed a musician, a nerd, or even better a veteran, who stands behind the electronic subculture unbroken and with a lot of heart. I found him and he immediately said yes.
Claus Bachor has been active since the seventies. He got where he is today via US-Soul, Funk and 70s Disco. A techno pioneer without equal. What's more, he always keeps an eye on tradition. He stands unbroken with vinyl behind the turntables and always presents classic, unadorned sound.
I could go on like this forever, but you could write a whole book about Claus Bachor. So let's turn to the important part, the Music.

JONAH QUAST aka BPN was born and raised in Cologne. From 2012 to 2014 he was a member of the “Tauchgang” crew and organized parties in the Cologne underground. During this time there was also a successful collaboration with Claus Bachor and Psycho Thrill Cologne. Where Quast subsequently played several sets in the now legendary "Psycho Thrill BNKR" somewhere in Cologne. In addition, he has been a founding member of the “3000Rave” crew since 2022 and organizes underground relevant Techno/ BreakBeat parties and raves between Mannheim and Heidelberg. On the in-house record label "3000Rave" and the Mannheim label "zwölfnullsieben" he releases his own tracks on another branch of his work, in addition to his acting career.

In his DJ mix presented here, Jonah embarks on an exciting journey within the framework of the club context he is familiar with. And which competently locates Techno somewhere in the field of tension between BreakBeat, Rave, HalfStep, and Acid. NJOY dis trip!

PSYCHO THRILL Cologne-founder and former NETWORK PRESS / CUT / d2000 magazine editor CLAUS BACHOR. One of the German long-term House and Techno DJs at all, and as friends in Detroit say "he's been doing this as long as anybody else that we know! His sets can range from classic Disco & old school House classics all the way to the darkest, bangin' techno that you've ever heard!" However, he's not standing still yet: The Psycho Thrill club and vinyl label run by him has just turned 29 and Bachor is still doing bookings all over Europe, the United States and beyond.

His long-term affiliations with Detroit Techno music and also his journalistic involvement with the topic of Detroit Techno/ Electro/ Chicago-House as an author/editor over the years has made him a world renowned expert. This experience and vast knowledge of the techno genre has led him to appearing in many documentaries, the most noteable being 'High Tech Soul' [ www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0DocslQ4lE ] which focused on the creation of Detroit techno music. Other film credits include being involved in the highly acclaimed 'We Call it Techno' [ https://vimeo.com/showcase/4518357/video/207023599 ] documentary which focused on Germany's early techno scene and club culture.

Without using the usual hype for trends, he has managed to gain a position as multi-​commun​icator in the German Techno and House scene, in which he is always convincing as a DJ. With "backinthadayz" Bachor goes back here to his musical roots which where deeply influenced by afro-american friends who where working at the US embassy in Bonn or taking service as GIs at US military basis in the Frankfurt/Rhein-Main and Nuernberg area in the early seventies.
