A little more info on the Push Play album. 
A load of top names from the world of beats and bass music are donating a track each to a double-CD compilation album in support of a leukaemia charity. The comp has been inspired by the untimely passing of Sonia Akow, a DJ, label A&R and PR associate who was immersed in the scene until she died a year ago.
Sonia was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2012, and a plea was put out for a bone marrow donor. The beats and bass scene united to stage a benefit gig in March 2013, raising nearly £15,000 for various leukaemia charities, but sadly Sonia lost her fight for life on July 3rd 2013.
Fresh from working with Skrillex, the Ragga Twins appear with Aquasky on the compilation, and other names to donate a track include Deekline, the Freestylers, Atomic Hooligan, T-Power, Pyramid & Jay Cunning, Ben & Lex, the Moody Boyz, Rennie Pilgrem and Lawgiverz. The 25-track collection is being released next month on Botchit & Scarper, and is entitled 'Push Play' — named after Sonia's PR operation, Push Promotions. Many of those involved worked with Sonia during her time promoting underground music in the industry over the past 15 years.
All proceeds from the comp go to the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT). The compilation album follows a benefit gig in south London last month, with many of the same artists appearing, plus names like Maxi Jazz from Faithless.

"Not just grabbing the baton from Koma & Bones -- who ran the second leg of the Y4K series -- but positively sprinting away from all competitors, Freq Nasty turned in a mix album that proves up to the level of innovation in the title. First of all, he forswears the usual cast of breaks specialists (only Total Fusion, Tayo, Almighty Beatfreakz, and Phil Kieran get the nod). Second, he makes the mix his own -- actually playing the DJ instead of just the selector -- by heavily layering the inclusions, whether doubled-up tracks, a cappella versions, or his own remixes. And he paces the mix impeccably, dropping just enough off-tempo tracks to keep listeners attention. Every track sounds like a highlight in context, and, just as it should be, Freq Nasty himself wins honors with his "Amped (Dub)" -- which wins additional points for breaking into an a cappella of Public Enemy's "Bring tha Noise" midway through. Mixed for Breakspoll – The International Breakbeat Awards. For this re-issue I took out the track “Limb By Limb”, after having a closer listen to the lyrics – he’s just chatting bullshit about shooting people. Wish I had caught that one at the time, but at least I can take it out now.

David Draiman of Disturbed, and ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo recently collaborated together to construct Device. The album takes strands from hard rock, industrial, and electronica, and as a result, Device's self-titled debut album for Warner Bros. Records is a focused, fierce, and fiery new machine.

It all started while the Grammy Award-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse Disturbed was on hiatus, Lenardo reached out to Draiman to collaborate on a song for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack in late 2011. As soon as the singer heard the music, he was both intrigued and inspired. The duo then cut "Hunted" in Chicago. Even though the track didn't ultimately make the final soundtrack album due to circumstances beyond their control, Draiman urged that they hold on to it and continue writing music. Soon, they had an entire album's worth of material.

Upon finishing the record, Draiman enlisted Evanescence drummer Will Hunt and Dope and Rock of Ages guitarist Virus. Both Hunt and Virus jumped at the chance to be a part of this powerhouse trio. The three comprise the touring incarnation of Device.
