Gościem czwartego odcinka serii rozmów i podcastów jest @kubachateau - DJ, organizator i promotor stacjonujący w Krakowie. Kuba jest współzałożycielem labelu Wodawater, połową duetu Château Shatter oraz współkuratorem cyklu wydarzeń WODA i Entrance, gdzie występowali m.in. Laksa,  Alienata, Celestial Trax, Morah, VTSS, T A K A czy Nastya Muravyova. Jako DJ ma na koncie występy w większości najważniejszych klubów w Polsce (m.in. w Warszawie, Wrocławiu, Katowicach, Białymstoku czy Łodzi), jak również streamingi promujące Wodawater w Nowym Jorku (Halcyon) oraz Kijowie (20ft Radio). W pandemicznym 2020 r. współtworzył samopomocową inicjatywę Pop Up Radio, która z platformy spotkań online dla lokalnych artystów przeobraziła się w multidyscyplinarny i zaangażowany społecznie projekt.</span>

Jego sety to bardziej ”Pora na przygodę!” niż “Gambit królowej”: spontan bierze górę nad strategią. W zależności od sytuacji (i ilości miejsca w walizie) miesza w nich w różnych proporcjach techno, electro, trance, breaki czy EBM. W świetle dnia nie stroni od łagodniejszych brzmień, co niektórzy mogą pamiętać z WDWTR Radio i niedzielnych miękkich lądowań na kocach i leżakach na letniej Scenie przy Pompie. (Zazwyczaj) wierny winylom: tropi na nich dziwy natury, pioruny kuliste, łabędzie śpiewy i delfiny albinosy. W czystych klubach czuje się nieswojo.

Here's a podcast from someone close to our hearts, Hermeneia – a member of the Unsound team as well as a Warsaw-based DJ with wide-ranging taste. Hermeneia opened the main room of the Friday club night this year, building her set patiently as the crowd filled, by effortlessly moving from ethereal passages to darker, more percussive sides of bass music, blending in heavy tunes and Polish rap for good measure.
We were tempted to shorten that set for an attention-deficit Internet, but couldn't find a section we could bear to edit out – so enjoy the full journey...

Gościem piątego wydania serii rozmów i podcastów muzycznych Background Process jest Ernest Borkowski (on/jego) i jego wymykająca się z ram gatunkowych działalność jako @bakblivv, w ramach której łączy eksperyment dźwiękowy, sety DJskie, VJskie oraz występy live. Ernest jest członkiem audiowizualnego kolektywu @progrefonik, zaś produkcyjnie jest związany z krakowskim labelem @nawia. Swoją twórczość muzyczną prezentował m.in. na festiwalu Avant Art w Warszawie i podczas Miesiąca Fotografii w Krakowie.

W swoich setach miesza ze sobą wiele środowisk dźwiękowych, szukając dla nich wspólnego języka w tańcu. Popowe wokale przeplatają się z muzyką ballroomową, a reggaeton nadaje rytm postklubowym fantazjom i spotyka się z brzmieniami basowymi, czego próbkę można usłyszeć w soczystym miksie nagranym przez niego dla Background Process.

Poza sztuką dźwiękową, ​​Ernest zajmuje się także grafiką 3D, filmem eksperymentalnym, VR’em i performansem. Wykorzystując te media, eksploruje relacje między naturokulturą a technologią, badając przy tym systemowe praktyki wykluczania mniejszości i poszukując możliwości queerowania podmiotu. Swoje umiejętności szlifował na Wydziale Intermediów ASP w Krakowie, a swoje prace prezentował m.in. na festiwalu Młode Wilki w Szczecinie, przeglądzie VideoNews w Galerii Labirynt w Lublinie, podczas Miesiąca Fotografii w Krakowie, Cracow Gallery Weekend Krakers, festiwalu Nadmiar 4 Rewizja czy na Poznań Design Festival.

For his long, whirling and swirling sets he prefers clubs with a great sound system, small but vibrant parties and also big festivals. Vittjas Tief also enjoys playing for solidarity raves and acts as a co-organizer of the popular night ‘about:marionism'. With his
dedication and enthusiasm, he pushes an open minded, dance loving crowd into a state of ecstasy and cannot stand selfies taken in front of the DJ booth, nor annoying discussions about analog vs digital. Despite his mustache, cheesy vocals are definitely not part of his repertoire. In 2020 he founded the small label Charybdis Records together with his b2b partner Kindred. Anyone who witnessed Milo Spykers at the decks, knows his experience is as powerful as it is loving. From the moment he started performing, he demanded any raver’s attention. Milo loves music for as long as he can remember, electronic or not. Being born and raised in Belgium he was quick to delve deep into his country’s rich electronic music history, eager to learn as much as possible. Growing up being surrounded by his parent’s record collection also impacted him profoundly: large portions of his sets still use the grainy soul of techno’s original vinyl medium. 

With high ambitions and and his outstanding contribution to Lenske where he released his debut EP, the second and surely promising EP is already on its way!

While we are still waiting for spring to start blooming, another “Circulating Waves” mix just landed here with us. We are very happy to welcome Medha on board of the mothership!

The DJ and musician from PVC collective is an integral part of the local underground scene in Leipzig. Being a real digger, her passion for technoid music is characterized by her constant search for inspiration and new tracks, which she blends together in her flawless mixes with a mixture of intuition and thought. 

Influenced by the Berlin and Leipzig music culture and club scene she cultivates a sound defined by concise basslines and rougher elements on the one hand, but also by deep and driving rhythms, repetitive sounds and spherical textures, creating an endless drive that always aim to make the listeners dance and to send their minds on journeys far out.

Together with Vanta she also crafted a massive Hypnotic Techno pearl for us, which will be released on our second compilation “Sunken Artifacts II” on the 25th of March! We are very much looking forward to everything coming from her direction…

At this years edition of Bucht der Träumer my dear buddy Vittjas Tief and me had the honour to play on saturday at Porto Loco from 20.30h to 23.00h, right into the sunset...and what marvellous time we had.
The l'acoustics speakers delivered all the audio power imaginable, while the sun was setting, the forest in the front, the lake in our backs and you ravers made it complete with giving so much of your (dancing) energy. Under that outstanding circumstances we played one of our best sets ever, no doubt.
We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Kolejną osobą, która przedstawi swoją wizję grania, jest Piotr Figiel – producent muzyczny, live actowiec i DJ z Krakowa. Wcześniej kojarzony ze swoich wydawnictw pod aliasami DCM i Peter Feegle, od 2014 działa pod własnym imieniem i nazwiskiem. W swojej twórczości Piotr łączy przeróżne inspiracje, skupiając się na techno, IDM, oryginalnym sound designie, dobrym brzmieniu i graniu hardware’owych live actów. Te ostatnie miał okazję zaprezentować między innymi na festiwalach takich jak Street Art Festival, Ars Cameralis, dwukrotnie na Tauron Nowa Muzyka czy na legendarnym Instytucie w Warszawie. Jego produkcje i remiksy wydawane były w wielu polskich i zagranicznych labelach. Oprócz działalności solowej, w duecie z Dominikiem Gawrońskim tworzy projekt Krakowitz, eksplorując syntezatorowo-melodyjną stronę muzyki, przyprawioną nostalgią lat dziecięcych.

Zajmuje się także produkcją, miksem i masteringiem, pomagając innym artystom osiągnąć wymarzone brzmienie ich muzyki. Od 6 lat prowadzi na antenie Off Radio Kraków audycję “Essentia Electronica”, która stała się jednym z najważniejszych źródeł informacji i promocji dla krakowskiej sceny muzyki elektronicznej.

W podcaście przygotowanym przez Piotra znalazło się trochę nowości wydawniczych oraz produkcje samego autora – jeden z utworów, “What If”, został wydany w ramach “Head noise EP” dla labelu Unknown Territory. Całość zwraca uwagę bogatą warstwą perkusyjną, nieoczywistymi zestawieniami precyzyjnie dobranych utworów i płynnym przechodzeniem poprzez różne muzyczne obszary – minimalistyczne, hipnotyczne „toole”, „bleepowe” techno, dubtechnowe atmosfery i emocjonalne melodie. Projekt prowadzi krakowska DJka olga er, która zafascynowała się DJingiem pod koniec 2018 roku i od tamtej pory korzysta z każdej okazji, by dowiedzieć się więcej. W graniu techno poszukuje balansu pomiędzy hipnotyczną ciągłością a szorstkim brzmieniem i offgridowymi zaskoczeniami.
