Lead singer of the now defunct 2003 SAMMIE winners of Rock Band of the Year, Victory Gin (1999 - 2004), Devon Galley has been performing in front of large crowds since September of 1995.  In that time he has captured audiences at numerous Sacramento area venues including the Boardwalk, the Blue Lamp, the Fox and Goose, Harlow’s, Old Ironsides, Pistol Pete's, and Starlite Lounge.

He did the same while touring with Victory Gin at venues outside of California, such as the Satyricon in Portland, Oregon, The Central in Seattle, Washington, and Liquid Joe's in Salt Lake City, Utah.  With Victory Gin he had the privilege of being a featured act in the notorious Nadine's Wild Weekends in Sacramento and Nadine's Wild Nights in San Francisco.

Now performing throughout the Sacramento area, backed by a new band (guitarist David Abinader, drummer Stephen Linn, and bassist Ben Thompson), Devon brings a rare, soulful edge to both his acoustic and electric performances.  Drawing on influences like Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Tom Petty, and Jeff Buckley, his dynamic vocals and sincere presentation offer audiences a truly unique and energetic live music experience.

Been involved in music for as long as I can remember. It started in 4th grade with a recorder that I used to create my own songs, moved to the Casio SK-1 my parents got me for Christmas one year, I joined school band playing trumpet and continued all the way through High School in every band available (concert, pep, marching, jazz, classic quartet, classic quintet) and I also played Taiko for 10 years. Around the end of my time playing trumpet I was introduced to tools to write electronic music and have been doing it ever since. I picked the name Backscratch about six years ago when I started a short stint of DJing and KJing. I spend a lot of my music writing time working on soundtrack songs, background music, remixes and the occasional in your face track.

At least listening to my old music and cringing means I've grown as an artist. Don't be surprised if some of my older songs begin "disappearing" from here in the future. I only have so much room in this account.
