Cover song by the Sensational Marcus Wildwood

This recording was made by the SuperCam instrument on NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover on Feb. 19, 2021, just about 18 hours after landing on the mission’s first sol or Martian day. The rover’s mast, holding the microphone, was still stowed on Perseverance’s deck, and so the sound is muffled, a little like the sound one hears listening to a seashell or having a hand cupped over the ear. Just a little wind can be heard.

This is an elaboration on a track that had stagnated. I watched a Sci-show with my nephews and they were talking about the oldest living organism on Earth. It is a Quaking aspen colony that gets over grown by Firs until a fire kills the Firs off and the deep roots of the aspen re-establish. So I tried to make this song have a lot of changes and have a theme from the last verse carry over to the next. The sound byte is Hank Green of Sci-show, the photo credit goes to Ian Ezra
