Goeran Meyer returns to his MYR label with a pair of superbly stylish and considered new tracks.

Hot on the heels of his ‘Push and Hold’ EP back in July, Meyer is back with more of his deep and cinematic soundscapes. Whether DJing, producing or playing live, his approach to music is to always transport you through an ever-changing landscape of audio sculptures. The German has put out more than 30 releases on labels like Tulipa Recordings, Wonnemusik and Fine Beatz and continues to explore fresh new sounds on this latest effort. 

The gorgeous 'Place Your Tents' floats on supple synths and rubbery bass. The track unfolds like a flower, with expansive chords and gentle progressions taking you ever higher into the stars. It's an emotive and evocative tune that gets you in a reflective, optimistic mood as the grooves carry you away. The majestic 'Facing The Temple' is a beautiful mix of starry melodies and warm, pulsing drums. It locks you in a state of hypnosis, with deft details seeing your mind occupied as the deep house drums roll on to infinity.

These are two heartfelt and hugely atmospheric pieces of electronic music from the excellent Goeran Meyer.

Bart van Rijn’s STUG has long been a source of great inspiration for in-the-know heads. His latest reminds us of the fact, as the label head snaps up one of contemporary electronic music’s most alluring characters for the label’s ninth such outing. Step forward British
producer Works Of Intent (fka R.O.S.H.), who delivers a classy record courtesy of the magnificent Storm EP. Backed by a remix by the main protagonist himself, it also features a remix from prolific Swedish, Skudge.
Kicking off proceedings is 'Storm', a peak-time cut that’s layered with killer synths and a meandering baseline that’s both deep and driving. Hypnotic but also endlessly groovy, it gets us underway in seriously assured fashion.
'Glacial (Club Mix)' sees the producer turn his hand
to more acid-focused plains, and it too has more than enough about it to move the floor.
The 'Terrace Mix' of Glacial, meanwhile, is no slouch, with this no less enticing than its younger brother.
Works Of Intent then returns to 'Storm' via his 'Lorenz System' remix. A far cry from the original, it plays out in intriguing fashion, with its heavenly, almost trance-leaning backbone an interesting foil for its twinkling melodies and larger-than-life baseline.
Closing out matters is Skudge’s heads-down, no-nonsense interpretation of 'Glacial'. As ever, the remix work is really on point, and though they omit much of the original’s intriguing acid lines, the drums and the underlying baseline do some serious damage here. All things considered, this is an all-round banging EP that nearly signals STUG’s intentions for the year ahead.

The 5th installment in Duncan Forbes' 49North EP series, sees 3 of his recently released originals - take on tantalising new forms.

Up first is D's very own spin on his ambient, analogue stunner - 'Continental Drift'; which, via his 'Ode To All The Cosmic Disco Pixies' - re-emerges in a far more club-oriented plain, whilst still retaining that signature, wide-eyed charm.

Following this, is 'Strobe Dancer (Part Two)' - Duncan's sequel to his first ever full solo outing. And whilst it's very much cloaked in the same spectral, unearthly atmosphere as it's predecessor - this new chapter harbours a greater sense of urgency whilst dialling up the hypnotic a few notches as well.

And for the final half of this package - we return to EP3's 'Omnite'. Firstly, via a brand new Denham Audio rework, where on this occasion they lead Duncan's original into raw, sub-fuelled Junglist territory; that is before the genre-shunning Ryan James Ford flips the production emphatically on its head - delivering a quite extraordinary slab of Aphex-flavoured Techno psychedelia.

Through the alias Trascendance, coined in 2021, Riccardo Buccirossi obtains an alchemical mixture of techno, electro and acid, which are precisely the strands from which he draws inspiration for the debut album of Havalon Records founded by Alessandro Di Fulvio and Jacopo. In "Formula", a title in line with the alchemical world, he unrolls a red-hot metal spiral on a soft and malleable beat that melts like butter under the desert sun. "Reaction" moves on similar coordinates through Tb-303 barbed wire and bleepy squares in the background. Finally, the left setting of "Creation" is followed by "Havok" which summarizes the Detroit lesson by intertwining it with vibrant and virtuous acid veins.

Rather than talk your ear off all night, Pulling Strings are back with their sophomore release, a carefully honed trio of all-engulfing dancefloor meditations.

Kicking things off is Cape Town’s own Biodive, who delivers Red Eclipse – an exemplary balance of rumbling warehouse breaks and warm, enveloping synths.

Returning to the northern hemisphere, Johnny Flowers picks things up with M3 To Infinity, a more urgent offering that flits between ‘Headz era bass effects and the emotive atmospherics that Pulling Strings delight in providing.

Finally, the puppet master Herald Walk returns with Come Closer, another distinctive club cut peppered with sonic bon mots and peak time conversation starters.

All proceeds will be donated to the Voices of Children Foundation in Ukraine - a charity dedicated to providing psychological and psychosocial care for children affected by the consequences of conflict.

Martin Matiske's superb new six-track EP Circle Of Enlightenment on LDI Records is based around the concept of one-mindedness and togetherness and aims to describe the direct connection between human beings and the universe.

 

This German artist was fascinated with mixing records as early as his 10th birthday and had his first release on the legendary International Deejay Gigolo Records aged just 15. In the 20 years since he has released a selection of records on labels like Moustache Records and Bordello A Parigi. His timeless sound comes with a vintage touch and always fuses electro, Italo and techno in fresh new ways.

 

Circle Of Enlightenment is a brilliantly adventurous and storytelling new EP from the ever-excellent Martin Matiske.

As the mothership celebrates its second year of cruising through the boundless stars towards the Unknown, it is once again time to bring on board a new batch of like-minded souls. Collectively, we probe the myriad of cosmic layers that form the Ursa Nebulas.
After delving into the darkest depths of the Aranea Nebula, the captain woke up one day feeling an irresistible attraction towards a gentler, lighter glow. Far-off. Unusual in its presence and echoing rather exotic pulsations.

Chasing the chants of these galactic sirens, we set course to new and uncharted territories that dramatically expand the Ursa universe. This is a realm where ethereal atmospherics and eerie vocals casually meet trancey shoegaze, acid blends in with chic breakbeats, and alien rockstars appear to perform video game music. But still... be wary of the occasional grasp of elegant creepiness and cinematic constructs, palpable remnants of our previous journey.

Bade Records are back with a fresh new talent, Tom Place. Hailing from Essex, UK, Tom is a veteran producer who started out in the dubstep era and has honed his craft over the past decade. Bade are privileged to kickstart what is sure to be an exciting path with a varied 4 tracker EP from Tom.

First off is the EP title and title track, Corrupted Circuits. Teaming a pounding low end with a frenetic electro lead, this is one for dark basements and warehouses at peak hours.

Following up is Organic Motion, a deeper, stepping track that showcases Tom’s deep UK routes. A drum n’ bass inspired bass line, sharp percussion and vocals come together to form a deeper, well considered track.

Hard Ground follows. Taking no prisoners, this weapon combines a fast tempo, monstrous kick and electro inspired percussion to great effect, switching from a 4/4 to electro grove halfway through.

Rounding off the EP is Solid Lines, a more traditional and highly effective electro track that teams a bubbling synth line with vocals.
