London based electronic producer Leaps, aka Luke Osborne, who has been gaining plaudits for his work as one half of the duo, NULA is starting to emerge within the electronic music scene. Since releasing his debut EP earlier this year along with producing for the Canadian artist, a l l i e, Leaps has been working toward the next set of releases. Leaps has been supported by Dummy Mag, BBC Introducing (Jess Izatt), Spotify Basement: Fresh Finds, When We Dip, Dancefloor Romancer and Sasha.

‘We know’ continues using the same rich pallet of sounds of deep textured synthesisers coupled with intricate percussion, laced with pitched vocal fragments and chords that have an emotional resonance. The two-step beat gives punch and drive. Effortlessly straddling dance floor impact with emotive overtones. Leaps music follows on from many of his contemporaries in reaching that hard to find sweet spot in electronic music.

Lydia Eisenblätter returns with a 3-track EP for OAM. Surrealism is more than an artistic style - it's an artistic movement. In that sense, Lydia's third [OAM] was made around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lydia adapts her own surrealism, which is reflected in the artistic language with the cover symbolized by Las Pozas and the tracks Excile and Uncontrol on the vinyl. It musically illustrates the inner conflict between rational decisions and wild reverie in a difficult time. Ben Sims rounds out the theme. With him, Lydia has another supporter from her personal favorite producer's box for [OAM].

Boards of... Anatolia anyone?
Hun Hun are 28-year-old twin brothers Jimmy and Noé Moens from Brussels, Belgium. They grew up in a musical household since their father is a multi- instrumentalist who played in many bands, such as Bai Kamara Jr. and others. Then, a trip in Turkey opened their eyes to other musical horizons.
At the edge of the what they called the “Galataxy”, they are inspired by old Turkish b- movies and like to explore the eastern side of psychedelia, while remaining firmly grounded by their love of kosmische music.
Their debut LP for Lurid Music features twelve original tracks of a cinematic Anatolian nature, transporting you to the dusty cobblestone streets of the Near East while simultaneously propelling you to the outer regions of space. The man behind this is Danny B, a Spanish producer heavily inspired by masters like Frankie Knuckles, ‪Larry Heard‬ and Kerry Chandler. Throughout a decade Rico Casazza has developed a name with music that spans multiple genres. Diversity in music is his core. Nowadays he’s more known for his electro/IDM productions, but he’s also fond of techno, minimal, ambient, and electronica.

Although saying that an artist “does techno/electro/IDM” is something being heard thousands of times, Rico’s sound has a common characteristic recognised for recurring themes; to best describe it, it has to do with the nostalgic, melodic, ominous, deep music that brings you inside, yet is very energetic.

Having released about 19 EPs, 6 full albums, 15 remixes and more to come, composing music is his core force.

His carefully crafted sound has found home in Prague’s Moving Pictures label, in a form of a solid 4-tracker vinyl EP. Dive into its four chapters: “Emptiness Form” for a melancholic acid trip, “Ultramarine” for an aquatic techno-submarine immersion, or visit “Praslega” - an obscure yet lush sonic construction, along with “Jan25” - a mellow moody anthem.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years since Throne of Blood Recordings began. Originally conceived as a platform to release vinyl singles from NYC legends The Rapture, the label has grown and evolved into a stalwart of leftfield electronic music and a launchpad for some massively influential artists including Daniel Avery and Bicep.

We’ve never needed an excuse to celebrate, but hitting this milestone has made us contemplate our place in the world, reflecting on the relationships that have made Throne of Blood such an integral part of our lives and our legacy as an incubator for tomorrow’s most remarkable artists. So we’ve put together a series of anniversary EPs that bring our past and future together on the dance floor. 

The first of four releases, Anniversary EP #1 features longtime friend and label collaborator Chloe Thévenin of Parisian powerhouse Lumiere Noire Records, label manager Max Pask in collaboration with Tigersushi mainman Joakim (for the first time since their killer edit of Evan’s Pyramid for Cultures Of Soul), NYC techno mainstay and Bunker affiliate Justin Cudmore, and Liona, a wildly talented producer from Ulaanbaatar.

Four musical points of view with one goal in mind: making people dance. And there’s loads more to come…

MASK unveil the final entry in its untitled release series.
Berlin-based label MASK records has become known for releasing a string of vinyl-only EP’s by unnamed producers which have seen the support of respected artists such as Jimpster, DJ Bone, Ben Sims, Santiago Salazar, Laurent Garnier, Ryan Elliot, Marcel Dettmann, and the Blessed Madonna amongst others. Now, the tenth and final instalment of the series consists of an eclectic collection of techno and house cuts, all recorded on tape during an analog live session in the artist’s studio.

The A1 eases you into the record through glitchy textures, swelling synths and broken beats before the A2 gets you into a rapturous tracky groove offset by lo-fi vocals and dreamy pads. The A3 takes a darker turn through hypnotic drums and a droning bass, readying the listener for the B-Side which continues this raw energy.

The B1 picks up the pace with energetic drums and clean ride cymbals while the B2 incorporates floaty arps and a tantalising repeating vocal. ‘B3’ closes out the release with a retro 80s synth feel, putting a wrap on yet another incredible vinyl EP by this exciting underground label.

The melodic tone of the release continues with Dahu's remix, a Berlin based artist making a reputation for himself on the Steyoyoke imprint. A track that delicately balances heavy, driving bass with fragile and captivating arpeggio.

Portsmouth artist Kris Davis, a relative newcomer to the scene having released his first EP on Subjekt Recordings, brings a mature and complex rework to the fold, building the track up to a climax that will surely have listeners on their feet.

And last but not least, Italian artist Fedele demonstrates his individual production and capability away from the Agents of Time moniker. Fedele’s remix provides an unparalleled groove combined with progressive elements that certainly differentiate from the Dahu and Kris Davis remixes, leaving a well rounded release.
