The Forgotten CCLXXXV: Nigh/T\mare

Prophän is the solo electronic music project of Othman Cherradi, based in Casablanca, Morocco. Cherradi runs the experimental techno label Rhadâb and is the co-founder of Mindless a series of live events, podcasts and radio broadcasts.
He acknowledges a wide spectrum of musical inspirations, ranging from industrial and noise to the undeniable influence of local trance-inducing musical practices and customs that surround him in North Africa.

ELEGY OF OUR DEMISE :
 
The initial idea for this mix was to just contrast light and dark by means of ambient and related genres. But while compiling the tracks I realized that there was a second driving force at work. Over the course of the last few years my already strong contempt for
mankind has grown into proportions I never imagined. Looking back on our most recent historical events and the conclusions not drawn from them, neither on a larger scale nor in our multiple small „underground“ communities, there is not much left apart from giving
in.
This mix is a swansong. Only darkness is left. Light is nothing more than a straw. A trained reflex, shallow and meaningless. This mix is traditional, even reactionary, because progress is a corrupted concept. We are done. Accept and surrender.

Chaos, despair, and distress are some of the feelings that the artist tries to convey on his Podcasts, a result of depth research of unconventional audio material with a huge impact for the listener.

"What was a crucial sound experience in your life?"
The experience that marked me most of all (and which led me to my musical conversion) was that of the Berlin Atonal in 2013 in Berlin. It literally opened up a world that I absolutely didn't know before, both on how to listen and how to produce.
