Oscillate Tracks 002 is the second compilation from the Oscillate crew who have been running the event series at ://about blank for just over 4 years. This time with Melbourne based producer Hymns, known for his beautifully restrained, spacious electro, Superhexagon regular J. Wiltshire, presenting his own glistening take on modern dubstep, Perth-based artist PTMC, upheaving all expectations with his surprising rhythms and syncopation and Schloss Records founder Karima F whose percussion and berserk melodies know no bounds. Diverse, yet of the same palette, this record paints a dreamy yet powerful picture.

Brussels-based producer Andrea Mancini alias @clevelandmusicpage fancies swimming against the tide and his latest for Spanish outlet @hivern_disc - 'nDSi' - does indeed take us far away from the boring techno highway and main genre alleys, easing us into a world of playful electronics, bright textures and constantly changing harmonics.

RAFF debuts with a solid assembly of made-to-measure club tracks. After 5 years of 'Fortnightly Freebies' columns collating our favourite free downloads, we decided to do things a bit differently for the 100th chapter. Introducing 'Big Material', a 19-track 'name your price' compilation that will donate 100% of profits made to Stonewall Housing, a London-based charity supporting some of the most marginalised and vulnerable in our society.

At a time when unfair austerity is increasing inequality and leaving so many behind, we hope to support a community that has given so much to the 'scene' and music we love. Digi-dub abstractions and drifting ambient to kaleidoscopic breaks and newly-coined genre, 'subtle donk', it's a pretty accurate microcosm of the If-Only curation as a whole.

Big Material pulls together music from some of If-Only's favourite artists, with tracks from @apsychicyes, @riveryarra, Material Things (@12th-isle), @priori-ties, @nicholaswilson1982 & @steviewhisper, @benoitb, @maxabysmal, @58daniel, @bogdan-drazic, @whyesss, @twitch, @warzouk, @thomasbakk, @eyemeasure, @rdjm0, @furiousfrank, Moonphase (AKA @cl_lit), @moonbowmusic and @aki-aki.

It’s been over a year since his last EP, but finally, it is with mixed feelings that the Brainwaves crew have decided to release Thomas Bodenständig’s sophomore album, Speed Am Rhein.

Sometime in May of this year, our friend Thomas got in touch with us once again, sending us a box of 66 hand-numbered cassettes in mismatched dusty cases along with an enigmatic letter from his home in North Rhine Westfalia. Most of the letter unfortunately consisted of incomprehensible rambling, but we were able to gather that he was delving in high-speed trading in periodic visits to Frankfurt, that he had some sort of pulmonary affliction with complications and that he wanted us to release his album before the end of 2020 no matter what. We immediately tried to get in touch with him through all traditional channels, but in the months following the package, we received no response to any of our phone calls, letters, emails and soundcloud messages.

2020 has been a complicated year for everyone, and losing all contact with our german associate has been devastating to the entire crew. Since May, all five of us have been doing all that is in our power in order to get in touch with Thomas, but he seems to have completely disappeared. His apartment is vacant with no trace of his departure, his favourite barstool in Leverkusen’s dirtiest Kneipe is gathering dust and his cellar seems to have been emptied of all of his recording equipment. We have sent our notorious alien friend Brian to comb the streets of Leverkusen, we have been looking behind every barstool in every sleazy bar in the region, we’ve even checked all local hospital and morgue records in order to find some trace of his name, but to no avail.

It has been a long search and we do not plan on giving up, but we have finally decided that it is time to follow the great man’s instructions, and so today, after six months with no news from him, it is with a mixed emotional bouquet of sadness, pride and nostalgia that we release Speed Am Rhein and put the 66 cassettes on sale.
