---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Groove" is the sense of propulsive rhythmic "feel" or sense of "swing" created by the interaction of the music played by a band's rhythm section(drums, electric bass or double bass, guitar, and keyboards). Groove is a consideration in genres such as Jazz,salsa, funk, rock, fusion, and soul. The word is often used to describe the aspect of certain music that makes one want to move, dance, or "groove". Musicologists and other scholars began to analyze the concept of "groove" in the 1990s. They have argued that a "groove" is an "understanding of rhythmic patterning" or "feel" and "an intuitive sense" of "a cycle in motion" that emerges from "carefully aligned concurrent rhythmic patterns" that sets in motion dancing or foot-tapping on the part of listeners.

The sounds that have change the world since mid-20th Century, almost by default come in moments of great artistic desperation and cultural uncertainty on social rupture scenarios. They come to us unexpectedly and from the less predictable corner of the musical spectrum, with just a handful of powerful ideas which are ready to mortally wound the ever languishing and stagnated musical scene.

In that way, in rags but with an irrefutably powerful musical statement, Bando comes to the world’s musical scene as the first Puerto Rican band to be signed by an independent Japanese label.

This Septet, comprised of several veterans of the local music scene, thatincludes Eril Burgos, on keyboards, percussion and backing vocals, Agustín Criollo on bass guitar, backing vocals and musical direction, Oscar Delgado on latin percussion and backing vocals, Jerry Rivera on lead vocals, Edwin Solivan on drums and Gaby Vidal on lead, rhythm and atmospheric guitars, have achieved taking their own brand of Latin Rock and Afro Funk to a worldwide audience without the help of any record label or by commercial radio.

The fusion between Afrocaribbean and Afro-Continental sensitivity, in a vintage package that appeals to the great Sixties and Seventies, makes Bando a musical mix without precedents on the Island. Their live shows are truly a Happening where music blends artistically with images constructed by local artists and presented on a back splash while the band performs.

Perhaps Bando’s most important achievement –without considering their numerous local presentations in stages as the Heineken Venta al Jazz Festival, opening up for Salsa heavyweight Ismael Miranda, as part of the Smithsonian Museum expo, “American Sabor”, among others- has been becoming Puerto Rico first and only independent artist to get a licencing deal with an indie Japanese record label, Barrio Gold Records, which released their debut album on January, 2015. 

Without an argument, Bando is something to look for in the present and in years to come, for it is a true alternative to modern corporate bland musical proposals.
