As the world began to lock down in March of 2020, the band Walden opened the door of their new historic Nashville home with the intention of filling their quarantine with songwriting and creative collaboration. Their new release, Relapse, was the first of many songs to be born in their creaky attic bandroom as well as their first self-produced single. 

Relapse pushes sonic boundaries, combining traditional rock instrumentation with a modern pop twist, and an emotional distress from vocalist Richard Becker that adds depth and complexity to the arrangement. The song explores the self-destructive cycles we face as we search to resist our worst tendencies and reach for the strongest version of ourselves. Becker’s vulnerable yet earnest message reminds us that as we all face similar battles, we have the choice to let go of the past.

Our live version of ‘Fool’s Gold’ is officially out! To be honest, we could never figure out how to record this song properly. We’ve been closing our shows with it for years, but felt like we could never get it right in the studio. There’s something really special about the way you guys sing with us, and after a while, we realized the only way to do it justice would be to preserve all of your voices in the recording. So that’s what we did! The recording was captured during our last show in Atlanta at Aisle 5.
