Naarm (Melbourne) based collective Butter Sessions celebrate over a decade in business with an extensive glossary of talented friends and affiliates pressed on a three-part compilation series. The label has always held the community closest, as exemplified by the 20+ artists featured over the three releases. Each 12” presents a grand soundscape anchored into the tenebrous energy of the dancefloor, with its inquisitive electronics and fierce pulse. If there was a definition for the Butter Sessions sound of ten years in the making, the answer lies here. 

Cale Sexton’s Mania unlocks volume two before handing things over to Roza Terenzi with Lava Flow, with both pieces showcasing oscillating euphonic electro. Mousse steps in flaunting the catchy acid stained You’re In Belgium, interweaving spoken word with his trademark mantra delivery. Tornado Wallace wields smooth dnb in Satellite whilst French duo Nummer fly high in cosmic and esoteric electronica with Clouds. Polito return to the label with their signature freeform techno, bestowing Divine Obsolescence. To sign off, Potatoheadz Records Sam Sedgewick makes his debut on the label with Affluent Intelligence, demonstrating crunchy padwork and volatile synth loops.

Banoffee Pies Original series continues with a long overdue welcome to the label for Xades (pronounced shades), the Berlin based Artist, Producer, Vocalist, already known under her DJ moniker MSJY. The Femme Bass Mafia co-founder operating for the last 8 years across Europe, with a previous residency at Amsterdam’s De School Club, and further affiliations with the likes of Dekmantel and OOST. As Jenny’s career and musical output continues to flourish, the Xades project sets the foundations as a space for measured sonic reflection, and acts as a portal to connect  to their surroundings under a lens of sensitivity.

Original production “Qlu” gives us a taste of the dynamic, sharp and playful spectrum of sounds that culminate in a uniquely euphoric composition with the perfect touch of dub tinged electronica.

Two remixes take opposing directions, with an intricately chaptered bass weight twist from sound design enthusiast /  Body Verse founder Kate Miller, and a hybrid rhythmic club cut from recently affiliated label signing Syz. BPR x

“Halftime” opens with a warmth of textures, while “Weighting” shows calm in a mesmerising vocal track. Continued percussions layer across the release as “Trail” moves to evolving bass soundscapes, and a more ambient euphoria ends the trip in “Dexia”.

Last show of the year and a year's worth of shows for Broken Borders. Ending things on a high with Of Paradise headz Paul P + Fade. 

First hour from myself with tracks from Syz, Forever, Off the Meds, French II and Sun Genam amongst others. Paul and Lauren (Fade) showcasing label sounds and more with a killer mix in the second.

The Berlin via London label will see Lauren’s debut EP as Fade next year, along with a number of other records from new label signings and core family members, an Oall Hates remix EP and a few other surprises. Don't sleep!

The environment around them was ever changing, for as much as it was bright and light there were also moments of bleak, bitter darkness. They lurked around the corner. The planet was as much a living organism as they were, a bubbling ball of fertile unrest and unpredictable consequences. As the clouds rolled by slowly overhead he listened to their rumbling - it was ominous and yet weighted with such promise. A living dub, a noise and a drone in the distant skies above. 

Max In The World is a New York based producer and label boss. He runs Bliss Point - a promising imprint with a penchant for deep, ethereal electronics, dub and beyond. Max himself is set to release a new EP at the start of this year. It features an all guns blazing remix from Lyon dj and producer Sentiments.

10 unread messages, 15 missed calls and counting; the alerts flashed up on her screen one after another. She flipped the phone over — out of sight, out of mind. She knew what would greet her if she responded, and she wasn't ready to confront it yet. For now, she preferred to retreat into an imagined world and ignore everything else around her. The real world could wait. 

Dublin's First Second charge into 2021 with the release of Housebreaker, the highly anticipated return of WRY MYRRH member and DDR resident ELLLL, which gets a sparse, slomo twist from Can You Feel The Sun co-founder Parris. The record follows her Febreeze EP last year and, again, showcases her knack for intricate sound design and production chops. While the title track brings dystopian breaks and feverish tension, the Atlantis Dub amps up the atmosphere and temp, delivering an experimental twist on D'n'B.

Banoffee Pies Records 16th Original Series release comes via a 4 track 
Split EP collaboration between Kincaid, and Zenzizenz, the ambient moniker of techno producer Viers. After a long year behind us, and likely ahead, this record takes a temporary step into the calm and adds reflection to the blurred months that passed. 

The release is a collection of textural bumps and melodies opening with Kincaid’s 9 minute “Slow Stumble Home” - an aptly titled down tempo trip through a confused space, layered with composition, like a Playstation home screen theme on Mushrooms. Calm follows with two tracks from Zenzizenz - “Returning From Home”, a steady meditation through rumbling sounds soon shift to a new mood on the B side. “Falling Off” offers a more lethargic wandering through the marshland before BP016 comes to it’s close with “Single Cell”, the 2nd Kincaid track, which concludes with a chaptered 4x4 structure and slow bursts of energy within. Time to absorb. Love BP x
