The Squirrels from San Francisco are back and they're wearing white after Labor Day — pressing up a limited white-label 12", an Amsterdam Dance Event special, full of the throbbing electro, altered-states body music, and head-in-the-clouds techno you've come to expect from Squirrels on Film.

It wasn't long ago that a particular material girl declared that we are living in a material world, and sadly, that refrain now rings truer than ever. Thank God for the Material Squirrel, then, some unknown player (with a familiar sound…!) whose "Material World" is a devastating electro jam, elevated into the stratosphere by a bassline so big it's silly. Lokier, from Mexico City but residing in Berlin, comes after the anonymous Squirrel to present "Headless," a murky, slower tune with swirling arpeggios and whip-crack percussion that recalls the sound of Belgium and Germany circa '89-'92.  

On the B-side, Billy Bates — an old-school San Franciscan with credentials in new wave outfit The Vanishing and the more left-field Autonervous — offers up "Got It," featuring funky percussion entwined around a squirrely (no pun intended) synthesizer, like classic jackin' house on some heavy psychedelics. Last but certainly not least is head Squirrel honcho Solar, closing out with "Anoesis" (defined as 'a state of mind consisting of pure sensation without cognition'), a heady techno escapade that slowly builds and unfurls across the cosmos in seven minutes.

Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.

BAR03 is BAR Records’ very first spring release.
With 2 tracks by The Hague’s JEANS and 2 more by Italian duo Younger Than Me this one is dedicated to the ravers. 
First track by Jeans is ‘Grand Theft Mind Explorer’, a race car journey full of various breaks and melodies into the 4th dimension. The second track ’Nohzdyve’ sounds like a spring tune on a hardcore clubnight. The peaktime beat slowly fades into a sweet and nicely confusing end. 
Younger Than Me’s ‘BaRave’ has some classic UK rave elements; the signature drums are accompanied by a happy end of the day melody. This track asks for a perfect sunset.
‘Dirty Sex’ is the different one, a vocal track for darkrooms. Contains the beautiful voice of Justine.

The Chica is one of the Latinoamerican female voices that has been stirring up her heart and voice for several years. The Chica is an exaggeration of reality, a mix, a mutation. She has unleashed her madness in Mendoza's "Porno Party” and other parties such as "Club Sauna" and "Recreo Festival" in Santiago, Chile. Two years ago she released her debut album “Soy Fan” with the DDR label, and last year she also released her second title “Paradancers” through Discos Pato Carlos, on this occasion we are proud to let go and enter deeper in her delirium with her latest release “GRRR”. Tora Vinter returns to Bror Records on its first anniversary record, presenting two uplifting yet at the same time emotional tracks, including a guest remix appearance by Harald Björk (Kranglan Broadcast/Studio Barnhus).

In Tora’s own words: “Peri-Banu is number three in a series of songs portraying female characters from Thousand and One Nights. Peri-Banu is wise, powerful and beautiful and she is the coolest character in a story full of weak, violent and power hungry men.”

On Kid Kid:
”The kids stole my phone and made a number of recordings that I found. I processed them and included it. For me having kids is about love, joy, worries, fear, soul searching, expansion but most of all fun.“ - On the B-side, Harald Björk features a clubbier “Venus Version” of Kid Kid, described: “When I heard the original track I got a vibe of ”life” and ”birth”. I have a quite new grown interest in astrology and was heavily interested in the Mercury Venus conjunction in the 1st house of cancer while working on the track”

Smoke ebbed and flowed through the warehouse, engulfing all dancers in its path. Through the haze you could make out countless sweaty writhing bodies, eyes closed or heads down; each and every one lost in their own world. Their hips oscillating and swaying with every kick and stab that punctured the room. Their bodies were slave to the rhythms. 

Close family Timothy Clerkin pays tribute the foundations of rave music with a contemporary vision with his new EP Psalm. Set for release on his own Insult To Injury imprint, that he runs alongside us at R$N HQ, it features three originals torn from the late night good book. 'Slave Too' - which also gets a remix on the flip from Simian Mobile Disco's Jas Shaw - takes things up a gear following opener 'Psalm', bringing with it heavy breaks and detuned stabs that transport us back to the early 90s.

Bosconi Home Cooked Beats brings together unreleased tracks from producers from Italy and elsewhere to raise money for the Banco Alimentare Onlus Foundation. This initiative tackles food waste and redistributes food surplus to charities helping provide meals to those in need in Italy, which are relied upon more than ever in response to this unprecedented moment of crisis. At the heart of the compilation and the artists who have contributed is a double mission: to support
those who in this moment of need still have an essential right to food, and also for these artists to be recognised by Italian social and cultural institutions, which for the most part still do not see us
as entirely ‘professional' figures. All proceeds from sales of the compilation and individual tracks up 31 August 2020 will be donated to the charity.
Cooking music with dedication and passion to feed the soul in the fertile soil of our inner world.

PREMIERE #1078 | Ludus Pinsky - Ghost Town [Bosconi Records] 2020

BAR was a forward thinking nightclub in downtown Rotterdam with a progressive approach to electronic music. Located in the Schieblock, a multipurpose building for the creative economy, at only 200 meters from Central Station. BAR closed it's doors on June 30th 2019. 

The spirit of BAR lives on through the recordlabel and hostings at various clubs and festivals.
