This week, we are joined by I-RO. Being born in Istanbul and moving to Amsterdam took her to a hotspot of music she loves. I-RO started DJ'ing during the first lockdown period with the purpose of fulfilling herself with a creative tool. The creative outlet exposed her talents which were quickly picked up by various organizations and her current agency in Amsterdam.

Her sound is characterized by its hypnotic grooves and surprising elements. Together with her desire to stay connected with the dance floor, her sets are a sensory experience. Enjoy this hour by I-RO.

France’s proliferation of techno talent is hard to contest these days, but Mathys Lenne’s here in case you had any doubts. The DJ/producer also goes by The Scan, and makes up half of Classic Blue, pushing forward a steely vision of the genre that’s both shrewd and quick as a whippet. Alongside projects on HAYES, his beats have shown up too as vinyl EP on Blue Hour’s eponymous record label as well as a debut LP on Dutch powerhouse MORD (2023). It’s a hard hitting genus of techno that borrows from the layered and cognitive approach employed by forebears Efdemin and Float Records label boss TWR72. He’s been busy, and found a powerful voice he spends night after night bringing to dancefloors and headphones alike. For Bassiani Podcast 206, the francophone techno envoy weaves a complex mesh of warped kicks that doesn’t let up for a second, a building tension only someone with faculties as sharp as his could successfully maintain. If this is the first time you’ve heard his name you’d be wise to take note, with an ear like his, little can stop him.

Sciahriar ‘Sciahri’ Tavakoli, an Italo/Iranian DJ and producer, has been a prominent figure in the techno scene since his 2014 debut EP Mysterious Love on Ilian Tape. His sound navigates the full spectrum of techno, blending functional rhythms with experimental textures, a versatility mirrored in his dynamic DJ sets.

Sciahri has made his mark with releases on renowned labels like Warm Up, Non Series, Clergy, Semantica, Mord, and 47. Since 2017, he has also run Sublunar Records, a platform showcasing forward-thinking techno from both established and emerging artists, including Temudo, D-Leria, Cirkle, Oscar Mulero, Kangding Ray, and Adriana Lopez.

German born with kurdish roots, Penhai_kun is an emerging name in the Gothenburg Techno scene. Having started his journey in 2016, he has featured in various lineups and DIY-projects across Sweden and back home in Germany. His latest project involves the collective @ODDONECREW, establishing itself in Gothenburg by inviting DJs from Sweden, Germany, and the UK, resonating with the raw sound of 90´s techno. 

Drawn to everything old school, his fascination since childhood for 90´s hip hop is where he found his love for punchy drum patterns, influencing his current style. In this mix, Penhai_kun offers a journey through his key sonic landscapes, ranging from raw hypnotic sounds, tribal drum patterns, over to dark minimalistic grooves.

An extended opening session, weaving exclusive unreleased productions with a raw, textured selection to construct the night's foundation.

This recording documents that process in real time: four hours of reading the room's energy and guiding its momentum from the first arrivals into the depth of the afterparty. The set unfolds across four decks, concluding its final thirty minutes on a condensed setup as the main room was reconfigured for the exterior stage. The recording is complete, capturing the full narrative save for the final ten minutes, which were ceded to facilitate this technical transition.
