History of South London & That Election (S1, Ep7)

This podcast introduces Windrush Square as a site of multiple Black histories and memories. It explores the historic ‘arrival’ of the Empire Windrush in 1948, ongoing Black activism and resistance, including Brixton’s transnational links in the memorial to the Sharpeville Massacre, the Black Cultural Archives and its significance, and the new memorial to African and Caribbean servicemen in the square.
