I primarily play saxophone but also play some percussion, keyboards. I’m currently working on new material and posting experimental work this Fall.

The tracks are currently all my compositions, but in the coming years I hope to cover some songs in time! Matt W contributes bass on some older tracks.

Jazz/Fusion keyboard player, composer and producer.  Marketing, advertising, publishing and sales career.  Originally from Chicago, where I developed a strong appreciation for the blues and classical, and moved to New York, where jazz and the fine arts are so deep.  Key musical influences include Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Zawinul and Weather Report, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, John McLaughlin and the Mahivishnu Orchestra, Stanley Clarke, Scott Henderson and Tribal Tech, Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Emily Remler, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Larry Young, Buddy Guy, Santana and Earth Wind & Fire.   Former classical clarinet and piano player.  Unless noted, my music on SoundCloud was composed, recorded and performed using only keyboards.  An avid photographer.  Many covers here are my shots. Rooted in the traditions of flamenco, guitarist Benjamin Barrile prefers to speak through his instrument, expressing emotion without words. A remarkable soloist, Benjamin also excels as both accompanist and composer. His compositions are dynamic and progressive without straying too far from Spanish gypsy tradition that stretches back hundreds of years. 
In 2000 Benjamin set off to Spain for the first time, a country that had long captivated his imagination, in search of flamenco and what would be the most significant journey of his life so far. He travelled to one of the major centres of flamenco in Spain today, Jerez de la Frontera, where he studied under many great maestros. Back home in Toronto, Benjamin attributes a significant portion of his flamenco guitar skills and compositional training to Miguel de la Bastide. In recent years, Benjamin has recorded for many artists, including Tamar Ilana & Ventanas, David Buchbinder, The Café Olé, and Gustaü & Puente del Diablo. In addition to leading his own project, Benjamin is also a resident guitarist at Toronto based Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company and Compañia Carmen Romero. Benjamin is also the recipient of two Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Outstanding Sound Design/Composition, one of which he shares with flamenco guitarist Caroline Planté. He also has a 2020 Canadian Folk Music Award nominee for Instrumental Solo Artist of the Year.
Benjamin's debut album 'Esperando el Alba' ('Waiting for Dawn') reflects upon his long and arduous battle with musician's focal dystonia, an all too often career-ending neurological condition for many musicians.
