Castles in the Sky.. just doodling.. by the fireside.. an acoustic version.. well.. several versions.. I haven't played it for ages.. so I've just messed around reminding myself of the song again.. Check the spectacular fluff in the middle somewhere.. hilarious.. ; ) the lyrics and melodies came to me, as they tend to.. pretty much immediately.. - there are another three or four sections to it..  soon as I can string 'em all together I'll upload! :) there's a snazzy brassy bassline version somewhere..  : )

..here's a little remix of the epic (just one more) Summer of Love - staying true to the spirit of the original I've remixed it in the same way I recorded it using cool edit! :) Hope you enjoy!
Just one more Summer of Love..
It occurred to me that the ever decreasing circle of the last 
two millennia of human history has spun us around 
to a similar point in time to that of forty or so years ago.
The great spirit we call the Universe seems to be saying;
'Look, have another go at this, 'do it all over again..' 
..try a bit softer; as this part of the journey is ending, maybe it's time to get on the right path..'
..contrary to what one might think, 
'Summer of Love' isn't about any girl in particular, 
moreover.. It's a song to the Mother.. 
the Earth.. from whose Love we came.. 
and whose Love we should return.. 
There is only Joy in giving, that is,. Loving.. BE Love!
(cripes I'm so full of it..;)

'just one more Summer of Love', like many songs, has been, and is yet still a Journey. I wrote the Lyrics and Melodies in 2001 originally, and I undertook this stage of the journey solo, with very basic kit, (see below) in Pembroke and Bushbury.

Summer was recorded and mixed on a coal-fired 1998 600 mhz pc with 128 ram (yes, really.. You could see the steam blasting out the sides during the latter stages..)

I used an old copy of the great Cooledit, a Yamaha SY85 keyboard, 
a cheap condenser, an acoustic guitar, persistence... and a fair old dollop of Love.

Thanks to Joe Gallagher for sprinkling delicious guitar loveliness over it!! (and that session was a tale in itself!)

As I Was Falling came to me during a dark period in my life, and lifted me.
..just for interests sake.. Summer of Love and As I was Falling were recorded and mixed on a coal-fired 1998 600mhz pc with 128 ram (!) Yes, really.. You could see the steam blasting out the sides during the latter stages.. I used an old copy of the great CoolEdit, a Yamaha SY85 keyboard, a cheap condenser, a Takamine acoustic guitar, persistence... and a fair old dollop of Love

I lately find me tired of endless treadmill days, and TV dinners, served on plastic trays, 
I'm boxed in with my gadgets and I'm feeling nothing 
but the suck of screens, and blast of microwaves.. 

Forgetting what I came here for, living to consume.. the mother cries for me,
while I'm crying for the moon.. 

Freed myself once more I'm here with sea and sunshine, feeling love, 
playing guitar singing and smiling.. 
Nights and days of joy and tears will come, and go, 
as to the centre of my years my journey flows.. 

Your life is what you make, have you forgotten what you know..
become your own creation yeah.. growing with the flow..

Yes, it's 'busy'.. ~ challenging perhaps.. this is intentional ~ I like to see how far I can take weaving melodies, riffs; counterpoint.. (perhaps my next recording might be less frenetic?)  
As I've stated elsewhere, I don't write the songs, ~ they write me, or rather, they write themselves..
 
I've used 'Castles' as a vehicle to return to music.. and in re-recording and rewriting this song I've undergone a huge learning curve.. re-Learning how to sing.. how to play.. how to record.. Ableton, Cubase.. feck.. 
Strangely I haven't had to 're-learn' composition, ~ as I've stated elsewhere, I don't write the songs, ~ they write me, or rather, they write themselves..

Every day, every night I've been trying with all my might, I've been cyberactivatin' and trying to shed some light on all the problems man, that I can see.. Now I realise it's got to start with me. I could rant, I could rave, 'til I hit my grave, about star bangled spanners and corporate slaves consumer units, man.. But at least while I'm free.. I've got to be the change that I want to see.. And I know. Yes, I know. it's my problem too.. I cannot shirk responsibility..  I've got to be the change that I want to see.. 

Like a dancin' fool I got my head in the clouds
~ and I keep trippin' and tumbling..

Yeah I'll get up and dance again when I hit the ground..

I forgot to mention: Time. This recording has taken a long time because I've had to relearn everything. So this process began, again in June 2023 when I decided to 'Do it all over again.. One more time..' 
The learning curve has also included learning to sing and play guitar again (!), and learning how to record.. So, yeah, time.. and love..

20 years ago I released Last Train to Lhasa - which makes me feel very old!

To mark the anniversary of its release, I have created a limited edition, physical only (no downloads or streams) 4 disc box set, featuring previously unheard alternative and extended ambient mixes as well as a handful of fresh remixes by like-minded artists. This will come out in June.

To kick-start the celebrations, I asked Ukraine’s soundcloud.com/astropilot and Dublin’s soundcloud.com/silinder to add some 21st Century flavour to the title track, and released them on Monday 30th March via all the mainstream download stores and streaming sites.

(and as such, they're raw, and not in any way polished or 'produced'.. so for the moment this is raw songwriting as it happens stuff..) some are new, some from a way back..  asking to be played again.. they're like children.. growing.. : ) Time to breathe new life into these song children.. (what I've been doing is akin to sending yer kids out in tatty togs!) Sorry kids! I am on it! Promise! :)

Excerpt from my (musical) cv:  I've worked and played with Stu Jones, Joe Gallagher, Parvinder Bharat, Sen Gallagher, Roland Chadwick, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Surinder Sandhu, Paul Lockley, ColdCut and Dreadzone, Mel Jones, amongst many others... too humorous to mention..
I collaborated and played with Dave Stewart, (Eurythmics/SweetDreamsAreMadeofThis) Coldcut and Dreadzone on the World’s first Tri-Continental multicast; broadcast live simultaneously over three continents, via the Internet, Radio and TV.. for the BBC's Tomorrow's World TV programme.
I arranged, produced, and played on the World's first non-stop two hour live acoustic radio session - one of the last live shows at what was the BBC's iconic Pebble Mill for BBC Radio's Ben Turner.. with Joe Gallagher, Stu Jones and other members of the Jamplant.
I've also played numerous other live sessions for BBC Radio, including BBC Radio, BBC Radio Yorkshire, WM, Radio WCR.. etc etc, The Sheep Music Festival, Wolverhampton Civic & Wulfrun Halls, and between 2002  - 2006 I played and ran live music nights, - the now legendary Jamplant - encouraging and showcasing new musical talent in Wolverhampton and Barnsley, totting up 600 live performances! Pheww..
I also play with words, lyrics, images.. visuals.. and philosophise a good deal. ..about tea mostly.. I have also been known to play a fine and unique selection of self-penned and 'cover material' for a very reasonable fee, and have been known to captivate audiences with jolly enjoyable slices of banter, scintillating repartee.. and by just by being rather splendid company!
