Basics of Sikhi Podcast is a relaxed talk show about Sikhism (Sikhi) and topics related. 

Most discussions and learning about Sikhi take place in a formal setting like a Gurdwara (Sikh temple), by way of Punjabi speaking Parchariks (educators) speaking to the congregation. In recent years, many educators have taken to online platforms such as YouTube & Facebook to inspire, educate and spread the message of Sikhi to the world, in English.

Our successful and popular YouTube channel, Basics of Sikhi (be sure to subscribe!) has been hugely appreciated as a new, interactive and modern way of learning about Sikhi, especially by the younger generation, some of which who cannot speak or understand Punjabi so much.

In a similar way, this Podcast, hosted by Sukhdeep Singh (Sikh educator at Basics of Sikhi) and Karanveer Singh (Sikh volunteer), is continuing that innovation by bringing learning about Sikhi to an informal and relaxed platform in the form of this talk show podcast. Sukhdeep & Karanveer will invite different guests to the Podcast to discuss various topics directly and indirectly related to Sikhi e.g. Sikh history, traditions, fitness, nutrition, mental health, music and the list goes on!...

Barah Maha is a Bani composed by the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji. This Bani is commonly recited at the beginning of each month of the Sikh calendar, also known as Sangrand. Why are we separated from God? | Vaisakh | #2 The Barah Maha Series

This year marks the 400th Prakash Purab of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Sikhism, actually known as Sikhi, has been around for over 550 years. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji took Prakash (Birth) in 1621 and continued spreading the message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru.

Many of us are familiar with the story of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji obtaining martyrdom To save another faith in 1675, Chandni Chowk, Delhi. But, not many of us know about the other 50+ years they spent on this earth. In this motivational podcast episode, we have a conversation with Eeshar Singh and Sirrjan Singh, two brothers who have started a new venture establishing an indie animation organisation known as Adrak Studios. Their first project is focused on a highly anticipated short animation called "Ru."

In this podcast, we speak about the broad topic of animation and its role in delivering positive messages associated with Sikhi. We also talk about how Sikhs could be supporting similar endeavours such as full-time Kirtanis (faith-based musicians), Artists, poets and historians.

"Ru" is a beautiful adventure story that centres around a timid oil lamp called Ru and his quest for Light amongst the Darkness. It's a story about empowerment, self-development and compassion. #4 Sikh Animations and Creative Arts | Challenge The Darkness

Why Am I Here? Have we ever asked ourselves this question? There are many self-help books available in English which share their teachings and philosophies on how one can better themselves and find the aim to their life. 

We are so fortunate to have such a book now available in English which shares the Sikh Guru’s teachings and philosophies about who we are and what our purpose is on this earth. 

Bhai Tarsem Singh from the Share Charity, shares what inspired him to write this book and key themes from the book which we can apply to our lives, such as slowing down and being content with what we have. 

We cover an array of topics such as, technology and Sikhi, Karma, Sikh Weddings, UFC/MMA fighting and advice for the next generation.

Amazing must watch Katha & Kirtan on the beautiful shabad (hymn) 'Terai Bharosai Pyare'. If you read the translation of this shabad on iGurbani or SikhiToTheMax , you might find the translation a bit difficult to connect to. For this Katha (discourse), Bhai Baljit Singh improved on the interpretation of the shabad helping bring the meaning to life. In reflection of this shabad (hymn), Bhai Baljit Singh explains in depth how just like a child sometimes falls over, they can return to the safe laps of their parents, in the same way, we can rely and fall into the loving laps of that One, who resides in the energy of the Sangat (holy congregation). 

Bhai Baljit Singh explains the need for improving the translations of Gurbani and asks for the blessings of the Sangat to work on this project.
