Bhai Mardana Ji bows down to Guru Ji after listening about the 9 forms of Bhagti (devotion). They are served food by Bhai Lalo Ji, which Bhai Mardana Ji says tastes like Amrit (Ambrosial Nectar). Seeing Bhai Lalo Ji’s love and devotion from many lifetimes, Guru Ji gives enlightenment to Bhai Lalo Ji.

Sri Nanak Prakash is a detailed historical account of the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was written by Mahakavi (great poet) Bhai Santokh Singh Ji in 1824 (AD), and represents one of the most comprehensive and beautifully written accounts of Guru Ji’s life. It is usually associated as a part of the greater text known as Sri Gurpartap Suraj Granth (aka Suraj Prakash) which details the historical accounts of all 10 Guru Sahibs in poetic form. It is an ocean of bliss, knowledge and experience. It is said that if one listen to the history of the lives of all 10 Gurus through these texts with complete devotion and faith, they can reach enlightenment.

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਇਕ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ । 
You are the Support of my mind, O my Beloved, You are the Support of my mind.

ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਬਿਰਥੀਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈਂ । (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ (ਸੋਚਣੀਆਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
All other clever tricks are useless, O Beloved; You alone are my Protector. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
One who meets with the Perfect True Guru, O Beloved, that humble person is enraptured.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
He alone serves the Guru, O Beloved, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful.

ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ । 
Fruitful is the form of the Divine Guru, O Lord and Master; He is overflowing with all powers.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ । (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O Nanak, the Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord; He is ever-present, forever and ever. ||1||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
I live by hearing, hearing of those who know their God.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
(ਉਹ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
They contemplate the Lord's Name, they chant the Lord's Name, and their minds are imbued with the Lord's Name.

ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ) ਸੇਵਕ (ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤੇਰੀ) ਪੂਰਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ । 
I am Your servant; I beg to serve Your humble servants. By the karma of perfect destiny, I do this.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਣੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ, (-ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ ।੨।
This is Nanak's prayer: O my Lord and Master, may I obtain the Blessed Vision of Your humble servants. ||2||

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਵਾਸੋ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹਿਣ-ਖਲੋਣ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They are said to be very fortunate, O Beloved, who dwell in the Society of the Saints.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੋ ॥
(ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ (ਗਿਆਨ) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
They contemplate the Immaculate, Ambrosial Naam, and their minds are illuminated.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣੇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਧੌਂਸ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । 
The pains of birth and death are eradicated, O Beloved, and the fear of the Messenger of Death is ended.

ਤਿਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਣੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
They alone obtain the Blessed Vision of this Darshan, O Nanak, who are pleasing to their God. ||3||

ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
O my lofty, incomparable and infinite Lord and Master, who can know Your Glorious Virtues?

ਗਾਵਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਸੁਣਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
Those who sing them are saved, and those who listen to them are saved; all their sins are erased.

ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੇ ਪਾਹਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥
You save the beasts, demons and fools, and even stones are carried across.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
Slave Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary; he is forever and ever a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||4||
