This recording focuses on the first half of the 16th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Sahib describes the Panch, the supreme Ones who both listen and follow. 

Guru Sahib also talks about the Divine will and the value of compassion in establishing Dharma, i.e Righteousness. 

We discuss the different meanings of Panch and of Dharam being the main mission of Sikhi. The kirtan was sung by a Southall based German Amritdhari Singh, SatSiri Singh, on the Rebab and Guitaar. 

With Guru's blessings, the SIKHI in English seri.es will be going through the entire Sri Jap Ji Sahib, (the very first Bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and trying understand it in English alongside singing Gurbani kirtan to help explain further.

The programme is held every Sunday from 6-7pm at Park Avenue Gurdwara, Southall. English discourse alongside kirtan and simran by local kirtanees. Please give us your darshan and sangat.

Many times in our lives we become consumed by what we don’t have. The Fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji gives us the profound teaching that the Giver, Waheguru Ji, gives us so much and we should make efforts to grow gratitude within us!⁠

Unfortunately, even if we're blessed with 10 gifts, and one is taken away, instead of being in gratitude for the remaining 9, we enter a state of anger, resentment and ungratefulness, even though we still have 9 blessings!⁠

A simple solution to this is to always be grateful! Practise gratitude and focus on what we do have and not what we don’t have. You'd be surprised how much you have.⁠

The humble consciousness attracts the divine.⁠

ਦਸ ਬਸਤੂ ਲੇ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਾਵੈ ॥⁠
He obtains ten things, and puts them behind him;⁠
ਏਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਕਾਰਨਿ ਬਿਖੋਟਿ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥⁠
for the sake of one thing withheld, he forfeits his faith.⁠

ਏਕ ਭੀ ਨ ਦੇਇ ਦਸ ਭੀ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੇਇ ॥⁠
But what if that one thing were not given, and the ten were taken away?⁠
ਤਉ ਮੂੜਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੇਇ ॥⁠
Then, what could the fool say or do?⁠
