Mooncast #43 - Bukkha

Soul Ex Machina is proud to announce its first vinyl release, featuring a hot three-tracker from Prague based producer with Slovak origins - EchoBoy. His background in digital reggae, as a former half of the Riddim Tuffa duo has clearly left its mark on the foundation of his current production. Delving in contemporary sounds from the deeper side of dubstep, infused with strong roots and dub influences, while keeping a steadfast focus on the current production standards. The EP is a testament to EchoBoy's skill as a producer, demonstrating his ability to weave together diverse elements into a cohesive result that is both innovative and deeply satisfying. The three tracks on "Roots of Dub EP" showcase his unique approach to his influences.

"Roots of Dub" is the first track on the EP, and it is a slow-burning masterpiece with a deep, rumbling bassline that gradually builds in intensity with each passing moment. The track draws inspiration from the rich tradition of dub music, with haunting melodies and subtle effects that create a hypnotic soundscape."We Lock Down The Block" is the second track on the EP. A heavy-but-soothing tune with a driving rhythm and powerful, deep and melodic bassline that will get any sound system shaking. The track builds up a meditative scape before the bassline drops in, hitting hard and leading the attention. Finally, "Chords Trip" takes a more minimalist approach, featuring ethereal melodies and sparse percussion that combine to create an immersive listening experience. The use of atmospheric sounds and effects creates a dreamy vibe, taking the listener on a journey through EchoBoy's unique soundscape.

The combination of EchoBoy's refined sound and Soul Ex Machina's commitment to delivering the best in cutting-edge electronic music promises to make this a standout release. The EP is set to drop on 2nd of June 2023.

The Imperial Riddim EP features two distinct cuts, each delivering its own unique vibe and message, built around a powerful riddim cre- ated by our friends Dubbing Sun and Bukkha.
The A-side, “Really and Truly,” is a heartfelt One Drop version featuring Haroon Ayaaz, the talented singer of Dubapest HiFi. Haroon’s uplifting Rastafari anthem is a praise song to His Imperial Majesty, carrying deep spiritual significance. This version is enriched by live drum recordings from Karigan, adding an organic warmth and vibrant energy to the track.
On the B-side, “Spoiled Cake” brings a heavier Steppas vibe. Legendary Jamaican singer Jay aka Easton Clarke delivers a profound message about life’s true priorities, using the metaphor of avoiding the “spoiled cake” to encourage mindfulness and gratitude. Vale’s trumpet lines add a melodic dimension to both cuts.
The EP’s visual presentation ties it all together, with cover and label design by Darkwing Dub. The artwork showcases the original Lion of Judah, a historic emblem used during the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie, reflecting the project’s deep connection to Rastafari heritage. From its origins in Jamaica, Italy, Hungary, and Austria, the Imperial Riddim EP is a celebration of collaboration and the universal power of reggae music.
