DJ/psychotherapist Vincent Neumann is back for his second Bassiani broadcast with as much spark as ever. Known for frequent techno sprints at his home away from home Distillery (as well as Berghain), his no-frills, achromatic sets are well documented. A little less known are his forays into a side of electronic music characterised by levity, jacking 90s stompers, italo hits and shuffling house. This one falls into the second category. Bassiani Podcast 143 is a chipper, catchy three-hour quest from the Unitas Multiplex label boss, recorded live at Horoom.

Flying the rave flag in Georgia’s western city Kutaisi, is co-founder and resident of heritage listed Reflector club and all-round promising talent G.Kura. Since 2017, his venue has been furnishing its local neighbourhood with all manner of electronic sounds and giving the DJ himself a perfect platform to promote an assortment of local and international artists. Among the household names, much of the Bassiani roster have spun on Reflector’s decks since opening, so it’s only natural Giorgi now returns the favour. So here it is: Bassiani Podcast 162 is two hours of light as a feather mid-tempo and afterhours bliss, a digital voyage from 90s chillout through microhouse, featuring a raft of mischievous video game scales, nostalgic Yamaha Lately bass, Detroit stompers and sun-soaked melodies for positive and unvexed open-air play.

To kick off Bassiani’s experimental and electroacoustic event series Zenaari, comes a new podcast put together by some of the most exciting names in the field. First point of departure for this thrilling new voyage is a one hour set by Horoom resident Kvanchi. If you’re following the club’s regular lineups and mainstay podcast you’ll be familiar with his precipitous techno selections; this one presents a softer, more wistful side to the Georgian music-maker. Maximal ambient soundscapes, warm and grainy textures, pads soft as cloud and fine as gossamer: Zenaari Mix 001 is a third-eye daydream from this sure-handed bastion of Tbilisi techno.

Local selector and Horoom resident Dito Chikovani delivers a perfect dose of blissful house for Bassiani Podcast 180. His trade is intimate and done by feeling, mood being key to his dancefloor dialogues, no doubt helped by an impeccable taste for records that lends a hint of the unexpected to his work on the decks. This modus operandi naturally extends to this next instalment: patient, confidently shapeshifting through space and time, communicating through progressive rhythms, sultry melodies and deeper interludes. This one’s a live recording from the Bassiani season closing night back in July when he took over opening duties just ahead of DJ Masda.
